  Executive Officer, Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 16 

Major Cox enlisted in the Marine Corps in December of 2001 and attended recruit training at MCRD Parris Island. After follow-on training, he was assigned to Company H, Marine Cryptologic Support Battalion, Lackland AFB TX as a Spanish and Albanian cryptologic linguist, mission supervisor, training NCO and Martial Arts instructor. In August of 2006 he attended National Intelligence University, graduating in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science in Intelligence.  Sgt Cox was subsequently stationed at Ft. Meade, National Security Agency as Battalion Training and Operations Chief for Marine Cryptologic Support Battalion from 2007 to 2008, when he was selected for Officer Candidate Course 199, receiving his commission on 12 December 2008.  


In August of 2012 Capt Cox reported to HMH-461 where he progressed through the CH-53E T&R syllabus and deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM 13.1 from February to August 2013.  Capt Cox served as the NATOPS Officer, and Adjutant and Legal officer while achieving designation as a Helicopter Aircraft Commander, Functional Check Pilot, Terrain Flight Instructor, and Section Leader.  Capt Cox helped plan the first Trans-Gulf flight to self-deploy CH-53E helicopters in support of Special Purpose MAGTF – Southern Command, where he served as the Flight Line officer in charge and Aircraft Maintenance Officer from 2014 to 2015.


In 2016, Capt Cox was selected for training as a Foreign Area Officer and reported to Naval Postgraduate School for instruction, Portuguese language training, and in-country training attached to the U.S. Consulate General, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.  Major Cox was extended to serve as the Operations Exchange Officer with the Brazilian Marine Corps from 2019-2020, supporting theater security cooperation exchanges and major Brazilian exercises in the SouthComm AOR.


In July of 2020, Maj Cox was assigned to MAG-16 where he served as an exercise planner and Forward Command element OIC for SLTE 1-20.  Maj Cox was subsequently assigned to HMH-361 where he served as the Director of Safety and Standardization and Executive officer for UDP 22.2 and led the aviation unit detachment for Korean Marine Exercise Program 22-2.


Maj Cox’ personal awards include the Good Conduct Medal, with bronze star in lieu of Second Award, Navy Marine Corps achievement Medal with gold star in lieu of second award, Navy Marine Corps Commendation Medal with gold star in lieu of second award, Air Medal Strike/Flight with bronze 3, and the Joint Service Commendation Medal.
