Major Brian D. McLean

Executive Officer, Marine Air Support Squadron 3

Maj McLean is a graduate of the University of Michigan with a B.A. in Middle East and North Africa Studies.  He enlisted in 1992 and was commissioned a second lieutenant, through the Marine Enlisted Commissioning Education Program, in 1998.
 
Maj McLean’s command assignments include: Tactical Air Operations Center (TAOC) Detachment Commander, MACS-1 (REIN), from 2006-2007.
 
Maj McLean’s staff assignments include: TAOC Executive Officer and Training/WTTP Officer, MACS-1, from 2000-2003; Air Defense Instructor, MCCES, from 2003-2006; Foreign Area Officer with Regimental Combat Team 1 in OIF 2.2, 2004-2005; Assistant Operations Officer and Weapons and Tactics Instructor at MACS-1 from 2007-2008; H&S Detachment Commander and Executive Officer/Operations Officer for MACS-1 while deployed in support of OIF 2008-2009; Air Defense Officer, Dept of Aviation, HQMC, in 2009; Aviation Ground Majors Monitor at Officer Assignments Branch, HQMC, from 2010-2012; Executive Officer, MACG-38 (Fwd) while deployed in support of OEF 12.2 from 2012-2013; Operations Officer, 3d LAAD Bn, from 2013-2014; and Executive Officer, 3d LAAD Bn, from January-June 2014.

Maj McLean is a graduate of the Defense Language Institute Arabic Basic Course, the Air Defense Control Officer Course, Navy Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor (TOPGUN) course, Weapons and Tactics Instructor course, Amphibious Warfare School (non-resident), and Marine Corps Command and Staff College (resident).  He holds a master’s degree in Military Studies.

His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Navy Marine Corps Commendation Medal (with two gold stars and combat distinguishing device), and the Combat Action Ribbon.
