A UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter crew chief holds an M240G medium machine gun during a flight March 7 in the Al Anbar Province of Iraq. The crew chief and other soldiers with the Virginia Army National Guard's 2nd Battalion, 224th Aviation Regiment, Marine Aircraft Group 16 (Reinforced), 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, officially began conducting operations Feb. 25. The battalion is writing a new chapter in military history by being the first Army aviation battalion to fall under a Marine aviation command in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
