Lorenzo Williams Jr. graduated from Miami Carol City High School in 2001. He enlisted and completed Recruit Training at Parris Island, South Carolina November 2001. He then reported to Camp Geiger, North Carolina for Marine Combat Training, graduating in December of 2001. Following graduation, he reported to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri to attend the Motor Transport Operators Course.
Private First Class Williams was then assigned to 3d FSSG, 3d Medical Battalion, Camp Hansen, in Okinawa, Japan and served as a Motor Transport Operator. In July 2002, he was promoted to lance corporal and received orders to Marine Service Support Group 31 on Camp Kinser, in Okinawa, Japan, where he served as a Motor Transport Operator. In March 2003 he was promoted to corporal. Upon completion of the 31st MEU, Corporal Williams transferred back to 3d Medical Battalion where he was assigned the billet of Truck Master.
Corporal Williams reported to Marine Security Guard School in Quantico, Virginia May 2004. After graduating he reported to Beijing, China where he served as a Watch Stander. He was promoted to sergeant October 2004. In August 2005, Sergeant Williams was transferred to Asuncion, Paraguay were he served as the Assistant Detachment Commander. Sergeant Williams then served as Detachment Commander in Lima, Peru for two months while they were gapped. In October 2006, Sergeant Williams was transferred to Kigali Rwanda and served as the Assistant Detachment Commander. Sergeant Williams was promoted to the rank of staff sergeant July 2007.
Staff Sergeant Williams received orders to 2d Marine Division, Headquarters Battalion, Truck Company B and served as the Company Vehicle Coordinator. In March 2008, Staff Sergeant Williams assumed the billet of Platoon Sergeant for 2d Platoon, 1st Section for Truck Company B. He went TAD to 3d Battalion, 9th Marines in April 2009 where he assumed the duties as Truck Master and Combat Logistics Patrol Leader while deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Staff Sergeant Williams was promoted to gunnery sergeant April 2010 and was assigned the billet of Truck Company B, Company Gunnery Sergeant. Gunnery Sergeant Williams reported to the Staff Non-Commissioned Officer Academy October 2010. While serving as a Faculty Advisor he held the billets of Physical Training Instructor and Chief Faculty Advisor. Gunnery Sergeant Williams was transferred to Battery G, 2d Bn, 10th Marines in January 2014 to serve as the Motor Transport Chief. He was selected to First Sergeant January 2015.
First Sergeant Williams was assigned to Supply Company, 2d Supply Battalion, 2d Marine Logistics Group. He also acted as the Battalion Sergeant Major for Combat Logistic Battalion 252 in support of Operation Cold Response in Norway. First Sergeant Williams transferred to 1st Tank Battalion, 1st Marine Division, Twentynine Palms, CA in May 2016 where he served in Company D, H&S Co, and Company B. He also served as 1st Tank Battalion Sergeant Major for six months. He was promoted to Sergeant Major February 2019.
He now serves as Sergeant Major, VMFA 314, MAG 11, Miramar, CA.
His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal with one Gold Star and the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with three Gold Stars.
