SgtMaj Bryan enlisted in the Marine Corps in June 2002 and reported to MCRD, Parris Island for recruit training. PFC Bryan graduated recruit training in September and reported to Marine Combat Training at Camp Geiger, North Carolina and Assault Amphibian Vehicle Crewman Course in Camp Pendleton, California for MOS school.
In January 2003, PFC Bryan was assigned to 2d Assault Amphibian Battalion, 2d Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. In February 2003 PFC Bryan deployed to Kuwait and Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. In June 2004 LCpl Bryan deployed with BLT 1/2, 24th MEU to Iraq in support of OIF II. Upon returning from the MEU deployment, Corporal Bryan attended Corporal's Leadership Course, and graduated as the honor graduate. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in December 2005. In January 2007 Sergeant Bryan deployed with BLT 2/2, 26th MEU and participated in Operations and Exercises in the 5th and 6th Fleet area of operations.
In January 2008, Sergeant Bryan reported to Drill Instructor School, Parris Island, SC. Upon graduation he was assigned to Company A, 1st Recruit Training Battalion. While there he held the billets of Drill Instructor and Senior Drill Instructor. During his time on drill instructor duty, SSgt Bryan completed MCIWS Course and MCITWS Course and served at the Combat Training Tank. In March 2011, SSgt Bryan completed Career Course at Camp Johnson, North Carolina.
Following his tour as a drill instructor, SSgt Bryan reported to Company D, 3d Assault Amphibian Battalion, 29 Palms CA. In November 2011, SSgt Bryan reported to G-3, 1st Marine Division as an individual augment. SSgt Bryan deployed with the 1st Marine Division to Camp Leatherneck in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in February 2012, where he served as the Training chief and Anti-Terrorism Force Protection chief. In March 2013 SSgt Bryan began pre-deployment training for Unit Deployment Program. During this time he completed Assault Amphibian Unit Leaders Course, and was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. Gunnery Sergeant Bryan deployed to Okinawa in November 2013, and participated in Operation Damayaan in the Philippines for humanitarian operations. In August 2014 GySgt Bryan completed Advance Course at MCB Camp Pendleton. Soon after completing school, he received orders to 3d AA Bn, Camp Pendleton, CA.
GySgt Bryan reported for duty with 3d AA Bn in January 2015. In July 2015, GySgt Bryan attached to BLT 2/1, 13th MEU and began pre-deployment training. GySgt Bryan deployed in February 2016 and participated in operations and exercises in the 5th and 6th Fleet area of operations. Following a successful deployment GySgt Bryan returned to 3d AA Bn in September 2016, and was assigned to Headquarters and Service Company as a platoon commander. He was selected to the rank of First Sergeant in December 2016, and received orders to MCRD Parris Island, SC.
In March, 2017, 1stSgt Bryan assumed duties as the Company First Sergeant for Company D, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, Parris Island, South Carolina. He completed five recruit training cycles while with Company D, and then assumed duties as Company First Sergeant, Recruit Processing Company. During this tour he completed the Senior Enlisted PME course, and served as faculty for Career School Seminar, where he graduated five seminar classes.
1stSgt Bryan assumed duties as Company First Sergeant, Food Service Company, Combat Logistics Regiment 17, 1st Marine Logistics Group in March, 2020. In January 2021, he was transferred to Communications Company. SgtMaj Bryan was frocked to his current rank in December, 2021, and reported to Marine Wing Communications Squadron-38 for duty as the Squadron Sergeant Major.
SgtMaj Bryan's personal decorations include the Purple Heart Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal w/ two gold stars in lieu of third award, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal w/two gold stars in lieu of third award, Combat Action Ribbon, and Humanitarian Service Medal.
