Lieutenant Colonel Tyrone G. Anub Jr.

Lieutenant Colonel Tyrone Anub is a graduate of California State University, Sacramento, with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in 2007.  Following graduation from The Basic School and Air Support Control Officer Course in 29 Palms, Second Lieutenant Anub reported to Marine Air Support Squadron 1, Marine Air Control Group 28 aboard Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, NC where he was assigned as a 2nd platoon commander with Air Support Company.

Second Lieutenant Anub deployed with MASS-1 in 2009 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom serving as Helicopter Director and Tactical Air Director during Operation Khanjar.  Upon his return he resumed duties as a platoon command, later being assigned as the executive officer of Air Support Company, Commanding Officer of Air Support Company, and Commanding Officer of Headquarters and Services Company.  In 2010 First Lieutenant Anub graduated with honors from the Martial Arts Instructor course aboard the School of Infantry, East.  

In July of 2011 First Lieutenant Anub was assigned as the Air Support Element Officer in charge and detached to the MACG-28 detachment, Marine Medium Tilt-rotor squadron 261 (reinforced), 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit and deployed as such in January of 2012.  He completed the Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course 2-13 earning the 7277 MOS. 

Captain Anub reported to Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron 1 in June, 2013 to serve as Direct Air Support Center Division Head.  During this time Captain Anub completed Expeditionary Warfare School and the Tactical Tomahawk Commander’s Course.  In summer of 2016, Captain Anub reported to Marine Operational Test and Evaluation Squadron 1 (VMX-1) to serve as the DASC Division head and Operational Test Director for the Tactical Air Control Element (TACE).


In the winter of 2016 he was selected to Major and to attend resident Professional Military Education at the US Naval War College in Newport, RI.  During this time, Major Anub earned a Master of Arts, with Distinction, in Defense and Strategic Studies.  Following graduation from the War College, in 2018, Major Anub returned to Yuma for duty as the Operations Officer and Executive Officer MACS-1.


Major Anub reported to HQMC Aviation in July of 2020 and was subsequently assigned to Joint Task Force –National Capitol Region to serve as the Operations officer for Joint Team Capitol for the 2021 Inauguration.  In March of 2021 he returned to the Pentagon to assume his responsibilities as AXE-5.


Lieutenant Colonel Anub reported to Marine Air Control Group 18, Okinawa Japan in July of 2023 to serve as Operations Officer and earning designation as a Sector Air Defense Commander. He was selected for Command of MASS-3 (REIN) in September of 2023.

Lieutenant Colonel Anub’s personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service medal (with gold star), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (with two gold stars), and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
