Major James Moore

Major Moore is from Kirkland, WA and graduated from Western Washington University with a bachelor's degree in Political Science in 2003.  Upon graduation, he enlisted in the Marine Corps and completed Basic Recruit Training in December 2003 and Marine Combat Training in February 2004.  Major Moore graduated from the Basic Refrigeration Mechanic Course (MOS 1161) in April 2004 and was assigned to 1st Maintenance Battalion in Camp Pendleton, CA.  Major Moore deployed to Al Taqaddum Air Base, Iraq in support of OIF 2-1 & 2-2 from May 2004 to February 2005 and again to Al Taqaddum Air Base, Iraq in support of OIF 5-7 from February 2006 to March 2007. 

Upon graduation of Officer Candidate School in March 2009 and The Basic School in November 2009, he reported to MALS-13 and served as the GSE (900 Div) Officer in Charge.  In January 2010, Major Moore reported to NAS Whiting Field where he completed the Naval Aviation Maintenance Program Course in March 2010 and was designated an Aircraft Maintenance Officer (MOS 6002).  In April 2010, Major Moore reported to VMA-513 and served as the AAMO and later deployed to Afghanistan in support of OEF 11-1/11-2 from May to November 2011. 

In July 2012, Major Moore reported to Fleet Readiness Center East as the Engines Deputy Integrated Product Team Lead.  In July 2015, Major Moore reported to Marine Corps University in Quantico, VA to attend Expeditionary Warfare School and graduated in May 2016. 

In June 2016, Major Moore joined VMM-165 as the AAMO and deployed to Al Jaber, Kuwait in support of SPMAGTF-CR-CC from September 2016 to April 2017.  In January 2018, Major Moore reported to MALS-16 to serve as the AAMO.  In June 2018, Captain Moore assumed the duties as the Operations Officer for MALS-16.  In July 2019, Major Moore reported to Command and Staff College at Marine Corps University and graduated in June 2020.  

In July 2020, Major Moore reported to the US Embassy in Wellington, New Zealand to serve as the Office of Defense Cooperation Chief for INDOPACOM J55.  During his joint tour as ODC Chief, Major Moore oversaw all security cooperation planning and activities for New Zealand and the Independent State of Samoa. 

In July 2022, Major Moore reported to MALS-13 to serve as the Operations Officer and transitioned to his current assignment as Executive Officer in March 2023.

Major Moore is married with two children.  He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from City University of Seattle.  His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Gold Star, and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
