Maj Femea is a native of Indianapolis, Indiana and was raised in Houston, Texas.  He studied Sacred Music and Theology at Pensacola Christian College prior to commissioning in 2008. Following completion of The Basic School Major Femea reported to primary and advanced flight instruction in Milton, Florida.

In November of 2010, he completed initial AH-1Z training at Camp Pendleton, CA and was subsequently assigned to HMLA-367 where he served as a schedule writer within the Current Operations Department.  Just prior to HMLA-367’s relocation to Hawaii, Femea transferred to HMLA-267 and was assigned to the Human Affairs Department.

In 2013, Femea deployed on the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) attached to VMM-163(REIN). Upon return he was assigned to HMLA-369 where he worked in the Future Operations Department and as the Logistics Officer.

Upon completion of the Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course in 2016, Femea transferred to VMM-163(REIN) where he served as the AH-1Z pilot training officer, detachment operations officer and briefly as the detachment officer in charge. During his tour at VMM-163(REIN) Major deployed as part of the 11th MEU supporting counter-terrorism operations in the Gulf of Aden region.

Upon return from the 11th MEU, Femea was transferred to HMLAT-303 where he has served as the Current Operations Officer, Future Operations Officer, Assistant Operations Officer, and Assistant Aircraft Maintenance Officer.

Femea currently holds flight designations as an AH-1Z Weapons and Tactics Instructor, Air Mission Commander, and Fleet Replacement Squadron Instructor. His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with Gold Star in lieu of second award and the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal.
