Sergeant Major Dominguez enlisted in the United States Marine Corps from El Monte, California in January of 1996. He reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD), San Diego, California in October of 1996 for recruit training. Upon completion of recruit training he attended Infantry Training Battalion (ITB) at Camp Pendleton, California. In May of 1997, Private First Class (PFC) Dominguez graduated from ITB and was assigned the Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) of 0311, riflemen.
In June 1997, PFC Dominguez was assigned to Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 3d Marines, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii and was promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal (LCpl) in July, 1997. During his first deployment, LCpl Dominguez was promoted to the rank of Corporal (Cpl) in August 1998 and to rank of Sergeant (Sgt) in August 2000 following a second deployment. While assigned to 1st Bn, 3d Marines, Sgt Dominguez deployed twice to Camp Hansen, Okinawa Japan, with follow on training at Mt Fuji, Korea and Guam. During his assignment with Alpha Company, he served as riflemen, team leader, machine gun section squad leader, machine gun section leader, and Platoon Sergeant.
In December 2000, Sgt Dominguez received orders to his first special duty assignment to serve as a Marine Corps Combat Instructor with Hotel Company, Marine Combat Training Battalion, School of Infantry, in Camp Pendleton, California. While serving with Hotel Company, Sgt Dominguez served in numerous cycles as a squad instructor. In April 2002, Sgt Dominguez was selected to serve as a Hotel Company Platoon Commander. In December 2002, Sgt Dominguez was transferred to the instructor group and became a primary instructor for infantry tactics and weapons.
In May 2004, Sgt Dominguez was transferred to Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 1st Marines, where he assumed the duties as squad leader for 1st platoon. Sgt Dominguez was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant (SSgt) in October 2004. Upon being promoted, SSgt Dominguez was transferred to weapons platoons, where he assumed the duties as the machine gun section leader. In December 2005, SSgt Dominguez deployed with the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, who supported Operation Unified Assurance in Indonesia and Iraqi Freedom 3, from December 2004 to May 2005. Upon return from deployment, SSgt Dominguez assumed the duties as Alpha Company, 3d Platoon Sergeant, where he deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 5-7 from January 2006 to August, 2006. In November 2006, SSgt Dominguez executed orders to Marine Corps Tactical Systems Support Activity, where he served as Training Chief.
In January 2008, SSgt Dominguez executed orders to Drill Instructor School, MCRD San Diego, California. Upon graduation, SSgt Dominguez was assigned to Delta Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion. While assigned to Delta Company, SSgt Dominguez served as Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor and Chief Drill Instructor. SSgt Dominguez was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant (GySgt) in August 2008. Upon completion of his second Special Duty Assignment, GySgt Dominguez received orders in April 2011 to 3d Battalion, 8th Marines, 8th Marine Regiment in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. GySgt Dominguez served as the Company Gunnery Sergeant for Kilo Company, where he deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom 1-2. GySgt Dominguez was promoted to First Sergeant in January 2013.
In February 2013, 1stSgt Dominguez reported to 2d Marine Special Operations Support Battalion, Marine Special Operations Command, where he served as Company First Sergeant for Logistic Company Alpha, from February 2013 to July 2014. 1stSgt Dominguez completed Joint Special Operations Forces Senior Enlisted Academy located in Tampa, Florida in March 2014. In August 2014, 1stSgt Dominguez executed orders to 1st Combat Engineer Battalion in Camp Pendleton, California. 1stSgt Dominguez has served as Company 1stSgt for Engineer Support Company and also served as Battalion SgtMaj from April 2015 to August 2015. 1stSgt Dominguez was promoted to the rank of Sergeant Major in March 2017.
SgtMaj Dominguez served as the Inspector-Instructor SgtMaj for Combat Logistics Battalion 25 from April 2017 to April 2019.
SgtMaj Dominguez personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendations Medal (3rd Award), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (w/ Combat V), Good Conduct Medal (6th Award), and Combat Action Ribbon.
