Major Weathers graduated from Midland High School in May of 1998. He double-majored and received Bachelor of Arts degrees in Economics and Religion from Baylor University in 2002. After College he attended Officer Candidate School and received his commission as a 2ndLt in December of 2003.
2ndLt Weathers reported to the Basic School in January 2004. Upon completion, he reported to Pensacola, FL for flight training. 1sLt Weathers was designated a Naval Aviator in May of 2006. 1stLt Weathers reported to HMLA/T-303 aboard Camp Pendleton, CA for training in the UH-1N. Upon completion, 1stLt Weathers reported to HMLA-167 in December 2006.
1stLt Weathers deployed with the Warriors of HMLA-167 to Operation Iraqi Freedom 08.1 in February 2008. During this time he served as the Assistant S-5 Officer. After returning from OIF in August 2008, Captain Weathers served as the Ground Training OIC and Schedule Writer. During this time, Captain Weathers deployed to Operation Iraqi Freedom 09.1 in March of 2009. Following the return from OIF, Captain Weathers served as the S-4A and UH-1 Standardization and NATOPS officer until his departure from the squadron in June 2011.
In the summer of 2011, Captain Weathers reported to Expeditionary Warfare School in Quantico, VA as a student. Following graduation in May 2012, Captain Weathers reported to HMLA-269 to serve as the UH-1 Pilot Training Officer (PTO). From May 2012 until February 2014, Captain Weathers served as the UH-1 PTO and Assistant Operations Officer. In February 2014 he was hand selected to execute orders to HMLA-467 and deploy in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
In February of 2014 Captain Weathers reported to HMLA-467 as the Director of Safety and Standardization. He was promoted to Major in March 2014 and deployed to OEF in April 2014 to Camp Bastion. Following his return from OEF, Major Weathers served as the Assistant Operations Officer until executing orders in May 2015.
In May 2015, Major Weathers became the Air Officer in the G-7 Exercise Branch at MARSOC HQ. While at MARSOC he was responsible for the sourcing and aviation execution at the Components Pre-deployment Readiness Exercise, RAVEN.
After completing his assignment at MARSOC, Major Weathers executed orders to HMLA-267 in June 2017 to serve as the Assistant Operations Officer until assuming the duties of the Operations Officer in June 2018. While deployed the Stingers executed multiple training evolutions both on Okinawa and also in mainland Japan and South Korea. Maj Weathers returned to MAG-39 in June 2019 and assumed duties as Headquarters Squadron Commander.
Major Weathers has flown over 2,400 mishap free flight hours. His personal awards include the Air Medal Strike/Flight Bronze Numeral 6, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
