SgtMaj DeQuattro was born and raised in Chicago, IL, enlisted in the Marine Corps in July 1999, and attended recruit training at MCRD San Diego, California. After graduation in October of 1999, Private First Class DeQuattro attended Marine Combat Training at School of Infantry at Camp Pendleton, California, and then reported to Fort Leonard Wood, MO where he received the primary MOS of 3531, Motor Transportation Operator. Upon graduation, PFC DeQuattro executed orders to Material Readiness Battalion, 3rd Force Service Support Group (FSSG) and served as vehicle operator and Records' NCO.
From 2001 to 2002, Corporal DeQuattro served as a dispatcher and chief dispatcher with 9th Communications Battalion on Camp Pendleton, CA. After being the recipient for Non Commissioned Officer of the Quarter for three quarters, Sergeant DeQuattro became the platoon sergeant for Motor Transport Platoon. In 2003, Sergeant DeQuattro deployed in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM and OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM where he held the billets of machine gunner, vehicle commander, and convoy commander. In 2004, Sergeant DeQuattro was assigned as the Force Protection Platoon Sergeant and deployed in support of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM II. Upon return from this deployment Sergeant DeQuattro served as platoon sergeant and operations chief for Motor Transport Platoon.
In 2005, Sergeant DeQuattro volunteered for Drill Instructor Duty, graduated from class 4-5, and was assigned to Company D as a drill instructor and senior drill instructor where he was the recipient of the Dan Daly Award. After seven cycles, Staff Sergeant DeQuattro served as academics instructor and Testing SNCOIC for Academics Instruction Platoon. Following this tour, in July 2008, Staff Sergeant DeQuattro received orders to 3d Marine Division, Okinawa, Japan.
As a Staff Sergeant, he was assigned as operations chief and company gunnery sergeant for Headquarters Company, 3d Marine Division. In March 2009, Staff Sergeant DeQuattro served as the guard chief, anti-terrorism SNCOIC, and operations chief, for Camps Courtney and McTureous. In November of 2009 he was selected to serve as an embedded combat advisor to the 215th Corps, Afghanistan National Army as a Embedded Training Team SNCOIC. After this deployment to Afghanistan in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM, he was meritoriously promoted to gunnery sergeant and assigned as platoon commander for 2nd Platoon, Truck Company, 3d Marine Division.
In July 2011, gunnery Sergeant DeQuattro received orders as the Assistant Marine Officer Instructor to Northwestern University. During this tour, he also volunteered to serve his summers at Officer Candidate School. For the summers of 2011,2012, and 2013, Gunnery Sergeant DeQuattro served as sergeant instructor for Company B and platoon sergeant for Companies E and G. In August of 2014, Gunnery Sergeant DeQuattro reported to Marine Air Support Squadron One and was assigned as the Heavy Equipment and Motor Transportation SNCOIC.
In December of 2014, First Sergeant DeQuattro executed orders to 1st Battalion, 6th Marines. He deployed as the Company First Sergeant for Company C and the Sergeant Major of Troops on the USS SAN ANTONIO in support of exercise BALTOPS 2015. In 2016, First Sergeant DeQuattro deployed on the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit as the Company First Sergeant for Company C and the Sergeant Major of Troops on the USS WHIDBEY ISLAND. In July 2017, First Sergeant DeQuattro executed orders to serve as the Site First Sergeant and also served as the Site Commander for Marine Wing Support Squadron 471 in Minneapolis, MN.
In November 2018, Sergeant Major DeQuattro was selected to his current rank and in August of 2019, he reported to 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton where he currently serves as the Battalion Sergeant Major for 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines.
Sergeant Major DeQuattro's personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with gold star in lieu of second award, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two gold stars, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with gold star, and the Combat Action Ribbon. Sergeant Major DeQuattro holds a Bachelors Degree in sociology from American Military University and also has a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth. Sergeant Major DeQuattro is married to formerly Lauren Mai and has one daughter; Madilyn.
