Commanding Officer, Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron 352
LIEUTENANT COLONEL MICHAEL A. BLEJSKI

Lieutenant Colonel Blejski was born in Oak Lawn, Illinois. He graduated from Valparaiso University in 2001, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and History. He commissioned via the Officer Candidate Course program in December 2002, graduated from The Basic School in July 2003, and was subsequently assigned to Naval Aviator training at NAS Pensacola, Florida in September 2003. 

Second Lieutenant Blejski was designated a Naval Aviator and graduated as a Commodore’s List recipient from NAS Corpus Christi, Texas in November 2004. He then reported to VMGRT-253 at MCAS Cherry Point, North Carolina and attended the Lockheed Martin C-130J Pilot Initial Qualification Course at Little Rock AFB, Arkansas.

Upon completion of training in May 2005, First Lieutenant Blejski reported to VMGR-352 the “Raiders”, MCAS Miramar, California for his first fleet assignment. During this tour, he served as the Mission Planning Officer, Loadmaster Officer in Charge, and NATOPS Officer.  He participated in Hurricane Katrina Relief Efforts and deployed in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM 05-07. While serving in Iraq he participated with VMGR-352, Detachment Bravo in the Non-Combatant Evacuation of Lebanon. First Lieutenant Blejski obtained the designation Transport Plane Commander in February 2007.

In September 2008, Captain Blejski reported to 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division to serve as a Forward Air Controller. During this tour, he deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. 

In January 2010, he returned to VMGR-352 where he served as the Aircrew Training Officer and Assistant Maintenance Officer. During this tour, he attended the Weapons and Tactics Instructor course and deployed in support of the 11th MEU to Djibouti, Africa as the Detachment Operations Officer.

In July of 2013, Major Blejski attended the Marine Corps Command and Staff College in Quantico, Virginia.  After completing his Master’s Degree in Military Studies, Major Blejski executed his orders in 2014 to the KC-130J Fleet Replacement Detachment, MCAS Cherry Point. Here he served as the Executive Officer, the KC-130J NATOPS Program Manager, and the USMC representative for the Partnered Nation C-130 Operators Working Group.

In April 2016, Major Blejski returned to VMGR-352, where he deployed to Al Jaber, Kuwait as the Officer in Charge of VMGR-352 Detachment Alpha to Special Purpose, Marine Air Ground Task Force, Crisis Response, Central Command that supported missions during Operation INHERENT RESOLVE. After returning from deployment, Major Blejski served as the squadron Executive and Operations Officer. Also during this tour, he participated in Hurricane Maria Relief Efforts in Puerto Rico.

From 2018 to 2020, Major Blejski was assigned to the G-5 (Plans and Policy) Directorate for I Marine Expeditionary Force in Camp Pendleton, California.  During this tour, he served as the Deputy G-5, Northeast Asia Regional Plans Officer, and Strategic Mobility Planner.

In June 2020, Lieutenant Colonel Blejski reported to MAG-11 where he served as the Personnel Support Detachment Commander.

Lieutenant Colonel Blejski’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Medal with 6 strike flight awards, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Combat Distinguishing Device and three gold stars, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with one gold star, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
