Cpl. Michael Porcelli, air traffic controller and a New York City native, explains the operational display system at the Air Traffic Control facility aboard Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Calif. April 15. Porcelli is training on the local control position, which directly converses with the aircraft personnel to give them runway clearance or redirect them in the case of unsafe conditions.
