Japanese Lt. Gen. Koichi Isobe, the vice chief of the joint staff with Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, watches as pilots start an MV-22B Osprey while a Japanese officer takes a photo of the aircraft that will take him and his fellow soldiers on a familiarization flight on the flight line aboard Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Calif., June 18. Isobe and three of his aides visited the air station to become more familiar with the Marine Corps' Osprey.
