Marines with the Silent Drill Platoon perform during the Battle Color Ceremony aboard Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Calif., March 11. The Battle Color Detachment is a ceremonial unit featuring the United States Marine Drum and Bugle Corps, the Silent Drill Platoon and the official Marine Corps Color Guard. “The Drum and Bugle Corps, and the Silent Drill Platoon puts on a fantastic show, ‘wows’ the crowd and represents the best the Marine Corps has to offer,” said Maj. Gen. Michael Rocco, commanding general of the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing. The Battle Color Detachment is based out of Marine Barracks Washington, also known as “8th and I,” the oldest active post in the Marine Corps. The Marines in the detachment perform in hundreds of ceremonies across the country annually. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Kimberlyn Adams/Released)
