Corporal. Mark A. Klinger kneels next to his Humvee during convoy operations training May 18 on the roads of East Miramar conducted by Marine Wing Communications Squadron 38, Marine Air Control Group 38, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing. The squadron used the training evolution to prepare its Marines for their return to Iraq later this summer and were assisted by role players with Strategic Operations, a local film studio whose actors played the role of Iraqi civilians and opposing insurgent forces. Klinger, a radio operator, was one of the squadron corporals named as the convoy commander, normally a staff noncommissioned officer and commissioned officer position.
