Lance Cpl. Michael Forras (right), test cell operator, Marine Aircraft Logistics Squadron 11, Marine Aircraft group 11, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, embraces his father Vincent Forras at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Calif., Aug. 25 during a visit to spend time with his son and to thank his son's fellow Marines for what they do for America. Vincent Forras worked as a firefighter at Ground Zero for more than one month after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in New York City. Michael saw the devastation firsthand and later decided to join the Marines. Now retired due to medical ailments, Vincent Forras is the founder and chief executive officer for the Gear Up Foundation that brings fire equipment and hope to fire departments and communities in need around the world.
