Three RQ-2B Pioneer unmanned aerial vehicles awaiting flight are staged in the hangar of Marine Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Squadron 1 at Al Taqaddum, Iraq, Feb. 28. The Pioneer is the only UAV the Marine Corps has fielded and has been in service for almost 20 years, used in both operations Desert Storm and Desert Shield, as well as the entire extent of operation Iraqi Freedom. VMU-1 falls under Marine Air Control Group 38 (Reinforced), 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing.
