Heavy equipment operators with Marine Wing Support Squadron 172, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing (Forward), use several different assets to level the area and compact dirt when constructing helicopter-landing zones. The squadron constructs and maintains HLZs at various locations in Iraq. Leveling the ground is a key step in the process.
