HMH-462 receives new sergeant major

Sgt. Maj. David K. Sibley, the senior-enlisted advisor of Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 462, relinquished his post to Sgt. Maj. James R. Lucas in a relief and appointment and retirement ceremony here, June 30.

Lucas, a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, comes to HMH-462 from HMH-465, where he served as the squadron sergeant major.

Lucas’ personal decorations include a Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and a Navy and Marine corps Achievement Medal with a Combat V and two gold stars in lieu of third award.

Sibley, a native of Kilgore, Texas, became the senior enlisted advisor of HMH-462 in December 2005 as the squadron sergeant major.

He deployed with the squadron to Al Asad, Iraq, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
