MARINE CORPS AIR STATION MIRAMAR, Calif. -- Lt Col. Ernest L. Ackiss, commanding officer of Reserve Support Unit Air Stations West, relinquished command to Lt. Col. James E. Fox during a change of command ceremony aboard the air station, July 10.
Fox graduated Western Carolina University with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in education in 1988. Upon completion of The Basic School in 1989, Fox attended the Infantry Officers Course.
Fox was the director and branch head of the Western Recruiting Region, Prior Service Recruiting for Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego since 2007.
His personal decorations include the Navy Achievement Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Meritorious Service Medal and Air Strike Medal with Strike/Flight number 10.
Ackiss graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1987 with a Bachelor’s of Science in business administration. Upon completion of The Basic School, he reported to Naval Air Station Pensacola Fla. and was designated a Naval Aviator in 1989.
Ackiss assumed command of the RSU Air Stations West July 2007.
His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with one gold star, Air Medal with a strike flight award, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with one gold star and the Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
Ackiss is going to attend the Marine Corps War College in Marine Corps Base Quantico.
