Sergeant Major Arturo Cisneros

Sergeant Major, Marine Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Squadron 1

Sergeant Major Arturo Cisneros enlisted in the Marine Corps’ delayed entry program in January 1996 and attended Recruit Training in February 1996 at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego. Upon Completion of recruit training, Private Cisneros received orders to the School of Infantry in Camp Pendleton, California.

Private Cisneros was assigned to 3th Battalion, 4th Marines in August of 1996, where he served in various billets to include Platoon Radio Operator, Team leader and Squad Leader. While serving with 3th Battalion 4th Marines, he was promoted to the ranks of Private First Class, Lance Corporal and Corporal. 

Corporal Cisneros received orders to report to Rifle Security Company Leeward in Guantanamo, Bay Cuba, in May of 1999, where he served as Squad Leader, Corporal of the Guard, Sergeant of the Guard and Platoon Sergeant. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in May of 2000. 

Sergeant Cisneros in June 2000 was ordered to attend Drill Instructor School at MCRD, San Diego. Upon graduation from Drill Instructor School, he was assigned to 1st Recruit Training Battalion, Delta Company, where he served as Drill Instructor and Senior Drill Instructor with Delta Company for eight training cycles. He was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant on February 2, 2003. 

Staff Sergeant Cisneros received orders in February 2004 to 1st Battalion 4th Marines, Charlie Company, where he served in billets as Platoon Sergeant, Platoon Commander and Company Gunnery Sergeant. In June 2004, Staff Sergeant Cisneros deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 2 and 3. While back in CONUS, he participated in the humanitarian efforts in support of Hurricane Katrina relief efforts in Gulfport, Mississippi, and Slidell, Louisiana.  In February 2006, he deployed with the 11th MEU (SOC) in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 5 through 7. He was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant on February of 2007.

Gunnery Sergeant Cisneros received orders in April 2007 to attend the Marine Combat Instructor Course. Upon graduating from the course, he was assigned to be an instructor at Infantry Unit Leaders Course.  In June of 2008 he was assigned to Combat Instructor School where he served as Chief Instructor and School 1stSgt. He was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant in May of 2010.

First Sergeant Cisneros received orders in August 2010 to 7th Communication Battalion, where he served as the Bravo Company First Sergeant and Alpha Company First Sergeant.

In August 2012 First Sergeant Cisneros received orders to 3D Battalion 1st Marines where he served as the Weapons Company First Sergeant. In October 2013 he deployed to Okinawa, Japan as part of the Unit Deployment Program.  In May 2015, deployed with the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, where he was assigned as the Headquarters and Service Company First Sergeant. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant Major in February of 2016.
 
In February 2016, Sergeant Major Cisneros was assigned to his current position as the Squadron Sergeant Major of Marine Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Squadron 1, Yuma, AZ.

Sergeant Major Cisneros personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal with two gold stars and a Combat “V”, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with three gold stars and a Combat Action Ribbon.
