Lieutenant Colonel Todd C. Holland

Commanding Officer, Marine Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Squadron 1

LtCol Holland enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1993. After completion of requisite schools he was assigned to Fox Battery, 2nd Battalion, 14th Marines in Oklahoma City. He was commissioned in August of 1998 and after receiving his wings in October of 2001 he was selected for the AV-8B.

He was assigned to VMA-214 in October of 2002 and initially served as the Aircraft Division Officer and deployed with the squadron to Al Jaber, Kuwait flying combat sorties in support of Operation Southern Watch and Operation Iraqi Freedom in February 2003. He later assumed responsibilities as the Quality Assurance Officer and again deployed to Al Asad, Iraq in May of 2004 in support of OIF II.  During the deployment Captain Holland transitioned to the operations department until June of 2005 when he received orders to VMAT-203. While assigned to VMAT-203 Captain Holland served as the Instructional Systems Development Officer. He oversaw revision of the Flight Syllabus Guide, implementation of a web-based training system, and development of a Functional Requirements Document for the AV-8B simulator upgrade. In July 2008 Captain Holland reported to the 6th Marine Regiment as the Air Officer and in November was promoted to Major. He deployed to Ramadi from January 2009 to September 2009 as the Air Officer for RCT-6 in support of OIF 09.2. After returning from deployment Major Holland received orders to VX-9, China Lake in January 2010 and served as the AV-8B Operational Test Director and VX-9 Senior Marine. While serving at VX-9 he completed operational test plans and final reports of the Joint Mission Planning System 3.0, the H6.0 Operational Flight Program including: Digital Improved Triple Ejector Rack, ALE-47, AIM-120 integration and a Quick Reaction Assessment to support an Early Operational Capability of the Intrepid Tiger II Pod. In December of 2012 Major Holland reported to VMA-542 to serve as the Maintenance Officer. He served as the VMA-542 Maintenance Officer until June of 2014 when he transitioned to assignment as the VMU-2 Executive Officer. In July of 2015 he reported to the Deputy Commandant of Aviation as an action officer in the Unmanned Aircraft Systems cell.  He was promoted to his current rank in November 2015.

LtCol Holland’s prior AV-8B qualifications include: ACTI, LATI, Division Lead, and FCF pilot. While at VX-9 he was qualified in the F/A-18E/F.  He and has accumulated over 1800 mishap free flight hours.

LtCol Holland’s civilian education includes a Bachelors of Business Administration, University of Central Oklahoma and a Masters in Business Management, Boston University. His military education includes: Financial Management Officer’s Course, Expeditionary Warfare and Command and Staff distance education program, Tactical Air Control Party Course, and the MAWTS-1 Air Officer Course.

His personal decorations include the Air Medal Strike/Flight numeral “6”, Navy Commendation Medal (four awards), and Navy Achievement Medal (three awards).
