Sergeant Major Juanita Garcia

Sergeant Major Garcia, a native of Keams Canyon, AZ, reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, SC on 24 September 2001. After graduating from boot camp, she reported to Marine Combat Training, Camp Geiger, NC. Private Garcia reported to Air Support Operations Operator Course, Twentynine Palms, CA, where she was trained as an Air Support Operations Operator and obtained the MOS of 7242. Private Garcia was promoted to Private First Class in March 2002.

Upon completion of Air Support Operations Operator Course, Private First Class Garcia reported to Marine Air Support Squadron 3, Camp Pendleton, CA in July 2002, where she served as an Air Support Operations Operator. Private First Class Garcia was promoted to Lance Corporal in November 2002. Lance Corporal Garcia deployed in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM (OEF), Kuwait in February 2003. She also participated in support of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM (OIF) from March to May 2003, where she served as an Air Support Liaison Team Operator. In July 2004, Lance Corporal Garcia again deployed in support of OIF 2.2, where she served as an Air Support Net Operator and was promoted to the rank of Corporal.While deployed in support of OIF 2.2, Corporal Garcia also served as an Air Support Net Operator with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), Air Support Element.

In June 2005, Corporal Garcia was assigned to Marine Air Support Squadron 2, Okinawa, Japan, where she was promoted to Sergeant. Her billets included Platoon Sergeant, Company Gunnery Sergeant, and Crew Chief. Sergeant Garcia also filled in as the Air Support Company First Sergeant when required. Sergeant Garcia participated in Red Flag, as the Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge (NCOIC) of her detachment to Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada in February 2006. Additionally, she served as the detachment Staff Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge (SNCOIC) of Foal Eagle, Korea, that flew the Direct Air Support Center Airborne (DASC(A))
mission in April 2006.

In February 2007, Sergeant Garcia reported to Marine Air Support Squadron 3, Camp Pendleton, CA. Upon arriving, Sergeant Garcia served as a Squad Leader, Platoon Sergeant, Company Gunnery Sergeant, Company First Sergeant, and Direct Air Support Center Chief. During March 2009 Sergeant Garcia was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant.

Staff Sergeant Garcia received orders to Weapons and Field Training Battalion, Camp Pendleton, CA, in February of 2011, where she served as a Platoon Sergeant, Line Staff, Alpha Range SNCOIC, Formal Marksmanship Training Center SNCOIC, and Uniformed Victim Advocate.

Staff Sergeant Garcia received orders to the Staff Noncommissioned Officer's Academy (SNCOA), Camp Pendleton, California, for duty as a Sergeant's Course Faculty Advisor from October 2012 to October 2015. She was subsequently promoted to Gunnery Sergeant while stationed at the SNCOA.

Gunnery Sergeant Garcia then executed PCA orders to Marine Tactical Air Command 38 (MTACS-38), Marine Corps Air Station, Miramar, where she served as the Squadron Training Officer from October 2015 to September 2018. At the end of her tour, Gunnery Sergeant Garcia was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant.

First Sergeant Garcia executed PCA orders to Combat Logistics Battalion 5, Camp Pendleton, CA where she assumed the billet of Transportation Services Company First Sergeant in September of 2018. Additionally, she served as the Headquarters and Service Company First Sergeant of the Battalion.

In March of 2019, First Sergeant Garcia reported to Inspector Instructor (I&I) duty at Site Support, Raleigh, NC, where she served as the I-I First Sergeant. At the end of her tour she was promoted to Sergeant Major. Sergeant Major Garcia executed PCS orders, in December of 2022, to Marine Wing Support Squadron 372 where she presently serves are the Squadron Sergeant Major.
