Sergeant Major Lociendo Ferrer

Sergeant Major, Marine Air Control Group 38

Sergeant Major Lociendo Ferrer serves as the Sergeant Major for Marine Air Control Group 38, 3rd Marine Air Wing, Marine Corps Air Station, Miramar, California.

Sergeant Maj Ferrer enlisted in the Marine Corps and attended Recruit Training in April 1990 at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California. He then attended Infantry Training School at Camp Pendleton, California.































Pvt Ferrer was assigned to Weapons Co, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, Camp Pendleton, California from September 1990 to April 1995 where he served as a Machine gunner during Operation Desert Shield and combat operations in Desert Storm. He was promoted to Sergeant during this tour.

Sergeant Ferrer received orders to the Commanding General, United States, Central Command, MacDill AFB, Florida in April of 1995 where he served as a Personal Protective Officer for the Commanding General in Central Commands area of operation, from the Horn of Africa to the various countries of the Middle East. Sergeant Ferrer participated in Operations Desert Saber, Southern Watch, Bright Star and Roving Sands.

Sergeant Ferrer received orders to report to 3rd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, 29 Palms, California in June of 1998. He was assigned to Kilo Company where he served as a Platoon Sergeant and Platoon Commander during various training exercises to include two Unit Deployment Programs to Okinawa, Japan. He was promoted to Staff Sergeant during this tour.

Staff Sergeant Ferrer received orders to Marine Security Guard Battalion in December of 2001. After completion of MSG School in February 2002, SSgt Ferrer was assigned to the American Embassy, Yaoundé, Cameroon where he served as the Detachment Commander. In July of 2003, he was transferred to the American Embassy Lisbon, Portugal, where he also served as the Detachment Commander. In August of 2003, Staff Sergeant Ferrer was promoted to the Rank of Gunnery Sergeant.

Gunnery Sergeant Ferrer received orders back to 29 Palms, California to 2nd Battalion 7th Marine Regiment in January 2005, where he served as the Company Gunnery Sergeant for Golf Company. During this tour he participated in various training operations to include combat operations in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. In July of 2007, Gunnery Sergeant Ferrer was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant and was transferred to Headquarters Battalion, Marine Air Ground Combat Center where he served as the Alpha Company First Sergeant.

First Sergeant Ferrer received orders to the Inspector Instructor Staff in April 2009 where he served as the Inspector Instructor First Sergeant, Bravo Company, 4th Landing Support Battalion, Lathrop, California. During this tour he participated in several casualty assistance calls officer (CACO) duties. He served and assisted the Gold Star families of fallen Marines throughout the San Joaquin and Calaveras counties. In March 2012 First Sergeant Ferrer was promoted to the rank of Sergeant Major and transferred to MCAS Camp Pendleton, California where he served as the Squadron Sergeant Major for HMLA 367, MAG 39, 3d MAW, Camp Pendleton, California. During this short tour he successfully transferred the command from Camp Pendleton, California to Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.

Sergeant Major Ferrer received orders to MCAS Miramar, California in May 2012 where he served as the Squadron Sergeant Major for VMM 363 until January 2014. In January 2014 SgtMaj Ferrer was reassigned to MALS 16, MAG 16, 3rd MAW, Marine Corps Air Station, Miramar, California. In April 2015 SgtMaj Ferrer was reassigned to MACG-38, 3rd MAW, Marine Corps Air Station, Miramar, California.

His personal decorations include the Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with “V” device, Combat Action Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal as well as a number of other unit and service awards.
