Cpl. Jesse Tingle, a musician with the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing Band, practices flute outside the band hall, aboard Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Calif., May 14. Tingle collects historical American flags. He owns several historical flags with various numbers of stars. Some of his prized flags include a modern flag, flown during the dedication of the Miramar National Cemetery, given to him by retired Sgt. Maj. Michael Zacker, a 48-star burial flag, given by a member of his church, and a 45-star flag he purchased last year. He received his favorite flag at an early age, a 48-star flag, given to him by his father.
