Sergeant Major Wilfredo Arellano

Sergeant Major Arellano was born on April 3, 1986 in Los Angeles, California and raised in North Hollywood, California. He enlisted
in the United States Marine Corps in August 23, 2004, attending recruit training in Kilo Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion,
Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California. Private Arellano graduated recruit training on November 19, 2004 and reported to
the School of infantry, Camp Pendleton, California for Marine Combat Training. He was then assigned to Camp Johnson, Jacksonville,
North Carolina for MOS School where he earned the MOS of 3051, Supply Warehouse Clerk.


In April of 2005, Private First Class Arellano reported for duty to Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Arizona where he was assigned to
Marine Air Control Squadron-1 to serve as a Supply Warehouse Clerk. Private First Class Arellano was promoted to the rank of Lance
Corporal in December 2005. While stationed at MACS-1, Lance Corporal Arellano deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi
Freedom in February 2006. During the deployment Lance Corporal Arellano served as the lead gunner for security patrols.


In September 2006, Lance Corporal Arellano received orders to 9th Engineer Support Battalion, Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan where
he served as the Assistant Warehouse Chief. In March 2007 he was meritoriously promoted to Corporal. Corporal Arellano deployed
with the Battalion to Korea as the Supply Chief, in support of Korean Integrated Training Program 07. In February 2008, Corporal
Arellano deployed with the Battalion to Iraq as the Supply Warehouse Chief.


In February 2009, he re-enlisted as a 0411 Maintenance Management Specialist and received orders to 2D Marine Special Operations
Battalion, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. In May 2009, he was promoted to Sergeant. Sergeant Arellano arrived to 2d MSOB in
August 2009 and was attached to Hotel Company. He deployed with Hotel Company to Afghanistan in Support of Operation Enduring
Freedom from May 2010 to December 2010. In February of 2011, Sergeant Arellano was attached to Headquarter and Service
Company and assumed his duties as the Maintenance Management Chief.


In July 2012, Sergeant Arellano reported to Drill Instructor School aboard MCRD Parris Island. From October 2012 to November
2015, he serviced as a Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor, and Chief Drill Instructor at, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, Parris
Island, SC. In April 2014 he was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant.


In November 2015 Staff Sergeant Arellano arrived to Chemical Biological Incident Response Force (CBIRF) in Indian Head,
Maryland. He served at the Maintenance Management Chief, Lead Martial Arts Instructor Trainer for the Battalion and the SNCOIC of
Corporal Courses. He was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant in July 2018.


In January 2019, Gunnery Sergeant Arellano reported to MCRD San Diego where he served as a Chief Drill Instructor for Alpha
Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion. Later was assigned as the SNCOIC of the Martial Arts Section, were he was responsible for
all Marital Arts Training within the Recruit Training Regiment.


In June 2021, Gunnery Sergeant reported to 3d Marine Littoral Regiment, Marine Corps Base Hawaii. Where he is served as the
Maintenance Management Chief. He was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant on June 10, 2022 and received orders to 3d Littoral
Combat Team, served as the First Sergeant for Company B and Headquarters and Service Company.


In June 2024, First Sergeant Arellano reported to Weapons and Field Training Battalion, Edson Range, MCRD San Diego were he
served as the First Sergeant for Field Training Company. He was promoted to his current rank of Sergeant Major and assumed his post
as the VMFA-323 "Death Rattlers" Squadron Sergeant Major in June 2025.


Sergeant Major Arellano's personal awards include a Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with four gold stars and a Navy
and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with two gold star.
