Sergeant Major, Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 13
Sergeant Major Jon E. Osborn

Sergeant Major Osborn was born in Dallas, Texas. He enlisted in the Marine Corps March 23, 2004 at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California.  He graduated in June 2004, and reported to Infantry Training Battalion (ITB), Camp Pendleton, CA.  He was subsequently selected for advancement and attended Light Armored Reconnaissance Crewman Course, Camp Pendleton CA, where he earned his primary Military Occupational Specialty of 0313, LAV Crewman and was promoted to Lance Corporal upon graduating his “A” school.

In November of 2004, he received orders to report to 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. In May 2006 he was promoted to the rank of Corporal.  He would deploy twice with 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 05-07.2 as a Vehicle Commander.

In April 2007, Sergeant Major Osborn was transferred to School of Infantry (East), Marine Combat Instructor Course. He graduated in June 2007, and completed two cycles as a junior instructor and six cycles as senior instructor. In December of 2008, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.  In November of 2009, Sergeant Major Osborn was hand-selected to the Tactics Instructor Group where he taught four infantry training companies on weapon systems, defensive operations and patrolling fundamentals.

In December of 2010, Sergeant Major Osborn reported back to 2d Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion to serve as a Platoon Sergeant for Delta Company. He subsequently deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. In July of 2011, he was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant.

Sergeant Major Osborn returned from OEF and assumed responsibilities as Company 1stSgt for Delta Company. In 2013 Sergeant Major Osborn was recognized by Marine Corps Association to receive the SgtMaj. Bestwick award for increasing combat readiness in a ground combat unit. In November 2013, Sergeant Major Osborn also received the Clayton B. Vogel Award by 2d Marine Division for leadership excellence. April of 2014, Sergeant Major Osborn would receive the rank of Gunnery Sergeant meritoriously.

In February 2015, Sergeant Major Osborn attached to and deployed with 2nd Battalion 6th Marines in support of the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit. Upon returning, in September of 2016 Sergeant Major Osborn received orders to School of Infantry West. In February of 2018, Sergeant Major Osborn received orders to Service Company, Combat Logistics Regiment 1st Marine Logistics Group as the company First Sergeant.  Sergeant Major Osborn would receive orders to 2d Radio Battalion in March of 2020 to serve as the Headquarters First Sergeant.  Sergeant Major was promoted to his current rank in December of 2021 and received orders to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 13 as the Squadron Sergeant Major.

Sergeant Major Osborn’s personal awards include Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with three gold stars, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with one gold star, and a Combat Action Ribbon.
