Sergeant Major Paul F. Agan

Sergeant Major Paul F. Agan was born in Buffalo, New York and reported to recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina, on 25 July 1994.  Once Sergeant Major Agan finished recruit training and MCT he reported to Marine Corps Communication Electronics School (MCCES), Twentynine Palms, California where he received the MOS of 2881, Circuit Card Repair Technician.

In September 1995, he was assigned to (then) 1st Force Service Support Group (FSSG), Camp Pendleton, California where he worked as a circuit card repair technician in the research and development section at Electronics Maintenance Company (ELMACO), 1st Maintenance Battalion.  While assigned to ELMACO, he participated in Combined Arms Exercises primarily as Platoon Sergeant with Combat Service Support Detachment 19.  He was meritoriously promoted to the ranks of Corporal and Sergeant during his tour with 1st FSSG.

In June 1999, Sergeant Major Agan was ordered to Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) Service Support Group 15 and deployed as the Platoon Sergeant with the Maintenance Detachment.  In September 2000, Sergeant Major Agan received orders to MCCES, Twentynine Palms, California and was assigned to Company A, where he served as an Instructor for the Circuit Card Repair Course.

In September 2003, Sergeant Major Agan requested and received orders to Drill Instructor School, Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, California.  Upon graduation, Sergeant Major Agan was assigned to Company K, 3rd RTBN, RTR where he served as a Drill Instructor, Experienced Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor, and a Chief Drill Instructor.  In February of 2006, Sergeant Major Agan was transferred to the Instructor Staff, Drill Instructor School, Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, California.  He served in the billets of Squad Instructor, Academic Coordinator, and SOP Instructor.

In July 2007, Sergeant Major Agan was transferred to 1st Marine Division.  He served as the Support Platoon Shop Chief for seven months before being ordered to Military Police Company where he deployed in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM from August 2008 to March 2009 as the Company Gunnery Sergeant, finishing his tour as the Company First Sergeant.

In May 2009, Sergeant Major Agan received orders to 1st Radio Battalion.  While there, Sergeant Major Agan served as the Company B First Sergeant and deployed in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM from August 2010 to February 2011.  In May 2011, Sergeant Major Agan transferred to 2nd Fleet Antiterrorism Security Team (FAST) Company Yorktown, Virginia where he served as the Company First Sergeant until June 2013. 

Upon selection to his current rank, Sergeant Major Agan was ordered to 3d Marine Logistics Group.  From August 2014 to August 2017 he served as the Sergeant Major of 9th Engineer Support Battalion and Combat Logistics Battalion 4.  In August 2017, Sergeant Major Agan transferred to 3d Marine Aircraft Wing.  He served as the Sergeant Major of Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 11 until June 2018 and then transferred to his current assignment at Marine Wing Support Group 37.

Sergeant Major Agan is a graduate of the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy (Class 64) and his personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal with two gold stars (in lieu of 3rd award), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with three gold stars (in lieu of 4th award).
