Gunnery Sergeant Clint Muskett reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) San Diego, California in 2011 for recruit training. Upon completion of Marine Combat Training, Camp Pendleton, California he reported to Pensacola, Florida for his primary Military Occupation Specialty (MOS) school where he received the MOS 6154, H-1 Huey and Cobra Airframes mechanic. Soon after he would report to Central Naval Aviation Technical Training (CNATT), Camp Pendleton, CA for follow on training.
In August 2012, he reported to Helicopter Marine Light Attack Squadron (HMLA) 267 where he served as an Airframes Mechanic for both the H-1 Huey and Cobra helicopters. In October 2012, he was assigned to Vertical Marine Medium Tilt Rotor (VMM) 166 Reinforced (REIN) where he would be attached to the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) in preparation for the upcoming deployment to regions of the Middle East. In September 2013, he returned from the deployment and returned back to HMLA-267.
In March 2014, he was part of a SPMAGTF to India in support of the Honorable Mr. Barack Obama’s first trip. He returned back to HMLA-267 in May of that year. In April 2015, he would again report to VMM-166 (REIN) where he would deploy with the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit and served as a Collateral Duty Quality Assurance Representative (CDQAR) and the Non Commission Officer in Charge (NCOIC) for the Airframes Detachment. While on the deployment he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant on May of 2015. Post deployment, he was temporally assigned to HMLA-469 as a work center CDQAR until the return of HMLA-267 from their Unit Deployment Program (UDP). In August he would return to HMLA-267 as the NCOIC and work center supervisor for the Airframes work center. He was selected to become a Corporals Course Instructor in January of 2018 where he served as Facility Adviser and Chief Instructor of Corporals Course, MAG-39, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, Camp Pendleton, Ca.
In July 2018 Sergeant Muskett report to Drill Instructor School, MCRD San Diego, California and upon completion of the school he would be assigned to 2nd Recruit Training Battalion (2RTB), Fox Company. From October 2018 to November 2020, he served as Drill Instructor and Senior Drill Instructor. In January 2021, he assumed his duty as Chief Drill Instructor and Company 1stSgt, MCRD San Diego, Recruit Training Regiment (RTR), 2RTB, Golf Company.
Staff Sergeant Muskett would depart MCRD San Diego and report back to HMLA-267 in October of 2021 where he held the billet of Corrosion Control & Hazardous Material Division Chief and the Airframes Division Chief. In the fall of 2023, he would be promoted to his current rank of Gunnery Sergeant and deployed to MCAS Futenma, Okinawa, Japan in support of the Unit Deployment Program (UDP) as a Quality Assurance Representative (QAR). 18 Months later he found himself back in Okinawa, Japan in support of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit as the Senior Enlisted Leader. Upon his return in April of 2025, GySgt Muskett was selected to serve as the MAG-39 Headquarters Squadron 1stSgt where he is currently serving.
Gunnery Sergeant Muskett’s personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (gold star in lieu of 2nd award) and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2 gold stars in lieu of 3rd award).
