Sergeant Major Elba N. Estremera entered the Marine Corps in August 2002 and completed Recruit Training at MCRD Parris Island, South Carolina. She was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal for being the Company Honor Graduate. After completing Marine Combat Training, she attended the Radio Operator School in Twetny-nine Palms, California and attained the MOS of 0621, Radio Operator.
In March 2003, Lance Corporal Estremera reported to 1st Marine Division, Headquarters Battalion, Communications Company, Radio Platoon, Camp Pendleton, California. Her billets held included Squad Leader, Training NCO, Ground NCO, Encryption NCO, and Embark NCO. In June-October 2003, Lance Corporal Estremera deployed to support Operation Iraqi Freedom I. Her billets held include the Division Embark NCO and Radio Operator. While deployed, she received a combat meritorious promotion to the rank of Corporal. In Feb 2004-March 2005, Corporal Estremera deployed a second time for Operation Iraqi Freedom II. Her billets included being Radio Operator, SysCom Night/Day Watch Supervisor, and she was the Radio Chief for Operation Phantom Fury during the battle in Falluja, Iraq.
In March 2006, Sergeant Estremera volunteered and received orders to Drill Instructor School (MOS 0911). From April 2006-2009, Staff Sergeant Estremera completed a successful tour at Parris Island, South Carolina, 4th Recruit Training Battalion, Papa Company. Her billets included Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor, Combat Marksmanship Coach (MOS 0933), Papa Company Operations Chief, Support Battalion Substance Abuse Control Officer Representative (MOS 0149), and Support Battalion S3 Operations Chief. During her tour, she was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant for Drill Instructor of the Year.
In April 2009, Staff Sergeant Estremera received orders to Communications School, MCB Quantico, Virginia. Her billets included Radio Shop Chief Instructor, Enlisted Instructor Platoon Sergeant and Operations Chief. She conducted two Summer Augmentations to Officer Candidate School (OCS) to serve as a Sergeant Instructor and Academic Instructor.
In February 2011-2014, Staff Sergeant Estremera executed orders to Marine Wing Support Squadron 371, MCAS Yuma, Arizona. Her billets held were Radio Chief, Communications Chief, and served as the H&S Co 1stSgt. She attended the Radio Chief Course, 29 Palms, California in 2012 (MOS 0629) and promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant October 2012.
In February 2014-2017, Gunnery Sergeant Estremera received orders to Oficer Candidate School, MCB Quantico, Virginia. While on station, she attended the Equal Opportunity Representative Course and the Advance Course. While attending Advanced Course, Gunnery Sergeant Estremera recieived regonition as the distinguished Honor Graduate. Her billets included Sergeant Instructor, Platoon Sergeant, Academics Instructor, General Military Studies Advisor and was the Battalion Equal Opportunity Representative.
In February 2017-2020, she was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant and executed orders to Marine Detachment Fort Lee, Weapons Training Battalion, Virginia. She served as the Alpha and Bravo Company First Sergeant as well as the interim Marine Detachment Sergeant Major.
In March 2020, First Sergeant Estremera executed orders to Combat Logistics Regiment 1, 1st Transportation Support Battalion, Camp Pendleton, California where she served as the Landing Support Company First Sergeant. In September 2020, First Sergeant Estremera was reassigned and executed orders to Combat Logistics Regiment 17, Camp Pendleton, California serving as the First Sergeant at Communications Company and followed by Service Company.
In July 2021, First Sergeant Estremera is promoted to the rank of Sergeant Major and executes orders to Marine Air Control Squadron 1, Yuma, Arizona.
Sergeant Major Estremera's personal awards include the Navy Commendation Medal in lieu of 4th award, Navy and the Marine Corps Achievement Medal in lieu of 2nd award. She has also attained her Bachelor's Degree in The Science of Business with a Human Resource Management Certification.
