Major Brooke A. Campbell

Major Campbell was born in Cleveland, Ohio and graduated from Rocky River High School. She attended the Naval Academy and earned a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering with a concentration in Astronautical Engineering upon graduation in 2009. As a newly commissioned Second Lieutenant, Major Campbell completed the Basic Officer’s Course at The Basic School in 2010. She went on to Naval Flight Training in Pensacola, Florida after finishing Introductory Flight Screening (IFS) in Manassas, VA.

Major Campbell earned her ‘Wings of Gold’ in 2012 and reported to Marine Light Attack Helicopter Training Squadron 303 (HMLAT-303) in Camp Pendleton, CA to fly the AH-1W Super Cobra.  Major Campbell was then assigned to Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 469 (HMLA-469). Major Campbell deployed with Detachment-A to Okinawa, Japan in support of the Unit Deployment Program (UDP).  She was part of the first HMLA to deploy in this role in over ten years.  She conducted operations in South Korea, mainland Japan, and the Philippines. 

After serving in several billets within HMLA-469 and MAG-39, Major Campbell reported to the United States Naval Academy in 2017 and served as Senior Military Instructor. While remaining on station at USNA in 2019, Major Campbell was selected to become the Marine Detachment Operations Officer. She was responsible for all Marine Corps training for Midshipmen as well as their professional education and engagement. As the Senior Marine Mentor, Major Campbell coordinated and executed the competitive selection of Midshipmen into the USMC for two years.


In 2021, Major Campbell assumed command of Company A, Headquarters Support Battalion, Marine Corps Installations West. Leading a diverse company of over 400 Marines, Major Campbell advocated for personnel shortfalls and restructuring of the Company in order to improve mission effectiveness.


In May 2023, Major Campbell reported to MAG-39 Headquarters and took command of Headquarters Squadron 39 (HQSQDN-39) on 8 June 2023.


Major Campbell has continued her education through Expeditionary Warfare School, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Continuous Process Improvement Course, and Command and Staff College. Maj Campbell’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with a gold star in lieu of second award, the Korean Defense Service Medal and the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon.
