Major Christopher R. Seemayer graduated from Miami University in May of 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts in History and commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps on graduation day.
After graduating from The Basic School in December of 2006, he attended Aircraft Maintenance Officers’ Course at NAS Whiting Field, Florida. He then was assigned to Marine Aircraft Group (MAG) 36 MCAS Futenma, Okinawa, Japan in April of 2007.
Upon initial assignment to MAG-36 he served as the Airframes and Aviation Life Support Systems Officer for Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron (MALS) 36. In July 2007, Major Seemayer transferred to Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron (VMGR) 152 as the Material Control Officer (MCO) while transitioning the squadron from KC-130F/R Hercules to KC-130J Super Hercules and deploying throughout the Western Pacific. He also served as the North Division Maintenance Material Control Officer (MMCO) for all MV-22B, CH-46E, and CH-53D/E aircraft during Weapons and Tactics Instructor (WTI) course 1-09. Major Seemayer was promoted to First Lieutenant in May 2008.
In June of 2009, Major Seemayer transferred to MAG-16 at MCAS Miramar. Assigned to MALS-16, he initially served as the Power Plants Officer. In February 2010, Major Seemayer deployed to Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM as the MALS-16 Detachment A Aircraft Maintenance Officer overseeing support for all KC-130J, AV-8B, and F/A-18C/D aircraft. Upon return from deployment, he was assigned as the Assistant Aircraft Maintenance Officer, Production Control Officer, and Power Plants Officer before assignment as the Aircraft Maintenance Officer for his last year at MALS-16. Major Seemayer was promoted to Captain in October 2010.
In June of 2013, Major Seemayer transferred to Naval Air Systems Command in Patuxent River, Maryland and served as the Assistant Program Manager, Logistics (APML) for the Navy and Marine Corps Small Tactical Unmanned Aerial Systems Program Office (PMA-263). He led sustainment efforts for the RQ-21A Blackjack fielding and oversaw support for multiple MEU and MARSOC deployments. Major Seemayer was promoted to his current rank in September 2016.
In June of 2018, Major Seemayer transferred to MALS-39 at Camp Pendleton. He initially served as the Operations Officer and currently serves as the Executive Officer.
Commander Naval Air Forces selected him as the 2014 Captain Chuck Nechvatal Aircraft Maintenance Officer of the Year. He holds a Masters of Business Administration from Southern Illinois University and a Masters of Military Operational Art and Science from the Air Command and Staff College. Personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
