SERGEANT MAJOR JOSHUA B. CELIS

SgtMaj Celis was born in Houston, Texas on 17 July 1982. On 9 May 2000, he enlisted into the Marine Corps and reported to MCRD San Diego, CA with 1st Battalion. Upon graduation, he transferred to Marine Combat Training Battalion (west) and graduated in September 2000. He attended Field Radio Operators Course at Twenty-Nine Palms, CA and graduated in December 2000.
 
PFC Celis reported for duty to Kaneohe Bay, HI with 3d Battalion 3d Marines, Headquarters and Service Company, Communications Platoon. In April 2001, PFC Celis was deployed to Australia with 3d Battalion 3d Marines in support of Operation Tandem Thrust. PFC Celis served as the Embarkation NCO during this period. In February 2002, LCpl Celis was assigned as a Radio Operator apart of the Tactical Air Control Party (TACP) and deployed with 3d Battalion 3d Marines as a part of the Unit Deployment Program (UDP). During the deployment, 3/3 went to the Philippines in support of Operation Balikitan. In September 2002, LCpl Celis was promoted to the rank of Corporal. In February 2003, Cpl Celis was assigned as the Commanding Officer's driver and field radio operator and deployed to Okinawa, Japan attached to 31st MEU. Cpl Celis returned from deployment in September 2003. 
 
In January 2004, Cpl Celis was assigned as the Field Radio Operator to Marine Wing Support Squadron 271. In June 2004, Cpl Celis was promoted to Sgt and assigned at the Radio Supervisor. In February 2005, Sgt Celis deployed with MWSS-271 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Sgt Celis was assigned to Immediate Response Team. In September 2005, Sgt Celis returned from deployment and was assigned as the Radio Supervisor. 
From April 2006 to August 2009, SSgt Celis Served as the SNCOIC of RSS Pearland. SSgt Celis served as the SNCOIC of RSS Pearland until the successful completion of his tour in August 2009.
 
In September 2009, SSgt Celis was assigned to 8th Communications Battalion where he served in General Support Company's Trc-170 Platoon as the Radio Chief. In April 2010, SSgt Celis was attached to Regimental Combat Team 2 Embedded Training Team as the Communication Officer in charge of training the Afghanistan Communication Officer of the 2/215th Brigade in support of Enduring freedom.  
 
In December 2011, SSgt Celis was assigned to Marine Corps Communications Electronics Schools, Training Command as a Radio Chief Course Instructor. He was promoted to the rank of GySgt in October 2012. In January 2014, GySgt Celis was assigned at the Chief Instructor for FROC. In May 2014, GySgt Celis was assigned as the acting Bravo Company 1st Sgt. In December 2014, GySgt Celis reported to Headquarters Regiment, Communication Company where he served as the Staff Noncommissioned Officer in Charge of Single Channel Radio Platoon. 
 
In March 2016, He was promoted to 1stSgt and reported to 3d Supply Battalion, Combat Logistic Regiment 35. He served as the Supply Company 1stSgt. In January 2017, 1stSgt Celis was assigned as the Ammunition Company 1stSgt. In November 2017 - November 2018, 1stSgt Celis served as Food Service Company 1st Sgt at Headquarters Regiment. In November 2018, 1stSgt Celis reported to Headquarters Company at Combat Logistics Regiment 37.

In January 2021, He assumed his current position as VMGR-352 SgtMaj.
 
SgtMaj. Celis' personal awards include the, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (x6) and the Combat Action Ribbon.
