Lieutenant Colonel Michael T. Perrottet

Lieutenant Colonel Michael Perrottet was born in New York, NY.  In 2000, he graduated from Rhodes College in Memphis, TN earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations.  He attended Officer Candidate School and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps in 2002.  Upon completion of The Basic School, he reported to Flight School in Pensacola, FL and was designated a Naval Aviator in April 2005.

 

First Lieutenant Perrottet reported to Marine Aircraft Group (MAG) 39 for initial training in the CH-46E at Marine Medium Helicopter Training Squadron (HMMT) 164.  In October 2005, he reported to Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron (HMM) 268.  Between 2005 and 2010, he deployed three times to Al Anbar Province, Iraq in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.

 

In 2010, Captain Perrottet joined 1st Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company and deployed to Afghanistan in the spring of 2011 in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.  As a Forward Air Controller (FAC) and Supporting Arms Liaison Team Leader, he participated in combat operations alongside US, UK, Danish, Lithuanian, and Afghan forces in the Nahr-e-Saraj North region of Helmand Province.

 

In 2012, Captain Perrottet reported to MAG 39 for conversion training in the UH-1Y at Marine Light Attack Helicopter Training Squadron (HMLAT) 303.  In December 2012, he reported to MAG 29, joined Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron (HMLA) 167, and soon afterward deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM 13.1.  In 2015, Major Perrottet deployed to Okinawa, Japan as part of the III MEF Unit Deployment Program 16.1 rotation.

 

In June 2017, Major Perrottet was presented with a Master of Arts degree in Defense and Strategic Studies with distinction from the US Naval War College in Newport, RI.  During this period, he was also presented with a Master of Cybersecurity from Brown University.

 

From July 2017 through May 2020 Lieutenant Colonel Perrottet served as a staff officer and Global Force Management Section Head at Headquarters Marine Corps in the Plans, Policy, and Operations Division. 

 

In May 2020, Lieutenant Colonel Perrottet reported to MAG 39 and served as the MAG 39 Executive Officer until June 2021.

 

Over the past 19 years, Lieutenant Colonel Perrottet has held billets in various tactics, operations, logistics, information technology, maintenance, and safety departments.  He has completed a multitude of training courses including the Weapons and Tactics Instructor course, Aviation Safety and Crew Resource Management Instructor courses, the Maintenance Administration Management Course, the Joint Collateral Damage Estimation Course, the Fire Support Coordination Course, the ACE Battle Staff Officer Course, the Combat Emergency Trauma Course, and the Joint FAC Training and Standards Unit Air Officer Course at RAF Leeming, UK.
