Sergeant Major Ricky L. Broadway

Sergeant Major Broadway was born on 13 August 1982 in Sacramento, California. Sergeant Major Broadway enlisted in the Marine Corps as a Private on 17 October 2005. Sergeant Major Broadway attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California. After graduating recruit training, he attended Marine Combat Training (MCT) at Camp Pendleton, California.

Following completion of MCT, he attended MOS school at Camp Johnson North Carolina, for Basic Logistic/Embarkation Course (BLESC) where he attained the MOS of 0431 Embarkation Specialist. In April 2006, Sergeant Major Broadway promoted to the rank of Private First Class.

Upon completion of BLESC, Sergeant Major Broadway received orders to Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron (HMH) 462, Marine Aircraft Group 16 (MAG-16), 3D Marine Air Wing (MAW), Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Miramar, California, where he served as an Embarkation Clerk In December 2006, Sergeant Major Broadway promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal and attached to Marine Medium Lift Helicopter Squadron (HMM) 265 Reinforced (REIN) in Okinawa, and then deployed on the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU). In July 2007, Sergeant Major Broadway meritoriously promoted to the rank of Corporal.

In December 2007, Sergeant Major Broadway attached to HMH-465, MAG-16, 3D MAW, MCAS Miramar, California, where he served as the Logistics and Embarkation Chief. In May 2008, he was Meritoriously Promoted to the rank of Sergeant. In December 2008, Sergeant Major Broadway attached to HMM-262 (REIN) in Okinawa and deployed on the 31st MEU. In January 2011, he deployed to Afghanistan in support Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF). In July 2011, Sergeant Major Broadway received orders to Drill Instructor (DI) School, class 1-12, Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD), San Diego, California. Upon graduating, he was assigned to Company G, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion where he served as a Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor and then transferred to Company F as a Chief Drill Instructor. In November 2014, Sergeant Major Broadway promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant.

In November 2014, upon the Completion of Drill Instructor Duty, Sergeant Major Broadway was assigned to Marine Wing Headquarters Squadron (MWHS) 3, 3D MAW, MCAS Miramar where he served as the 3D MAW, G-4 Mobility Chief. In November 2016, Sergeant Major Broadway was assigned to Headquarters Regiment, 3d Marine Logistics Group as the Future Operations Chief. During this time, he deployed to South Korea for Key Resolve 17. In April 2018 Sergeant Major Broadway was frocked to First Sergeant. In May 2018, Sergeant Major Broadway was assigned to 3D Maintenance Battalion as Engineer Maintenance Company First Sergeant. In January 2019 transferred to General Support Maintenance Company as the company First Sergeant.

In August 2019, Sergeant Major Broadway reported to 3d Recruit Training Battalion, Recruit Training Regiment, MCRD, SD where he served as the Company M First Sergeant. In January 2021, Sergeant Major Broadway attended Senior Enlisted Professional Military Education (SEPME), Quantico VA. Upon his return from SEPME, he then transferred to Support Battalion where he served as the Special Training Company First Sergeant. In January 2022, he was selected as the Drill instructor School First Sergeant.

In December 2021, Sergeant Major Broadway was assigned to and is currently serving at 3d Low Altitude Air Defense (LAAD) Battalion, Marine Air Control Group (MACG) 38, 3D MAW as the Battalion Sergeant Major.

Sergeant Major Broadway's personal awards include Meritorious Service Medal, Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal (w/ three gold stars), and Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal (w/ three gold stars).
