Sergeant Major David P. Farmer

Sergeant Major Farmer was born on September 1, 1985 in Sacramento California.  He entered recruit training in January, 2006 and prior to graduating, promoted to the rank of Private First Class (PFC).  After completing The School of Infantry (MCT) and Logistics Operational School, PFC Farmer received the Military Occupational Specialty, Landing Support Specialist.

PFC Farmer received follow on orders to Combat Logistics Battalion 7, Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms California where he was promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal and later promoted to the rank of Corporal.

In February, 2008 Corporal Farmer was deployed to Fallujah Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom where he served as driver and gunner for Security Company, Combat Logistics Battalion 1. In September, 2009 he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.

In July, 2010 Sergeant Farmer received orders to Drill Instructor School, Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego. Upon completion, Sergeant Farmer was assigned as a Drill Instructor, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, Hotel Company.  In June 2013, he was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant.

In January, 2013 Staff Sergeant Farmer was assigned as the Squadron Logistics Chief and Headquarters and Service Company Gunnery Sergeant for Marine Wing Support Squadron 172, Camp Foster, Okinawa Japan. In June, 2016 Staff Sergeant Farmer was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant.

In June, 2016 Gunnery Sergeant Farmer was assigned to the USS Anchorage, San Diego, CA as Senior Combat Cargo Assistant and in April 2018, received orders as Combat Cargo Assistant and N5 Future Operations Chief, Expeditionary Strike Group Three and was promoted to First Sergeant in April 2019.

In April, 2019 First Sergeant Farmer reported to 2d Bn, 1st Marines where he served as the Company First Sergeant  for Weapons Company and Headquarters and Service Company and completed two deployments on the 31st MEU and SPMAGTF-CR-CC.

In November, 2021 First Sergeant Farmer was assigned to Combat Logistics Battalion 1 and served as the Company First Sergeant for Headquarters and Service Company and General Support Company and completed a deployment to Marine Rotational Force- Darwin 23.3.

In March, 2024 Sergeant Major Farmer was promoted to his current rank and was assigned as the Squadron Sergeant Major for Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 367.

Sergeant Major Farmer’s personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal 2nd award.

Sergeant Major Farmer is happily married to the former Adriana Gutierrez of Stockton California and has three children.
