Sergeant Major Martinezortiz was born July 07, 1981 in Aguascalientes, Mexico. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in August 03, 2003 and attended recruit training at MCRD San Diego, California. Upon completion Gunnery Sergeant Martinezortiz received training at Marine Combat Training (MCT) Camp Pendleton, California. Following MCT, he reported to Personnel Administration School Camp Johnson, North Carolina, and received the MOS 0121. 
 
In March 2004, Sergeant Major Martinezortiz reported to MAG-39 CPAC 3rd MAW, Camp Pendleton, California. He served as Personnel Administration Clerk and NCOIC.
 
In August 2006, Sergeant Major Martinezortiz deployed with 3rd Low Altitude Air Defense Battalion, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He served as Corporal of the Guard, vehicle Commander, and Sergeant of The Guard for Al Asad base Security.
 
In February 2007, Sergeant Major Martinezortiz reported to MAG-39 Camp Pendleton, California. He served as Administration Chief, and MAG-39 Color Sergeant. In June 2007, Gunnery Sergeant Martinezortiz was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. 
 
In July 2008, Sergeant Major Martinezortiz received orders to Drill Instructor School, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California, class 4-08.
 
In September 2008, Sergeant Major Martinezortiz reported to Third Battalion, Mike Company MCRD San Diego.  He served as Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor and Chief Drill Instructor.  In April 2011 Sergeant Major Martinezortiz was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant.
 
After a successful tour as a Drill Instructor Sergeant Major Martinezortiz reported to Headquarter Company, Headquarters Battalion, Marine Corps Base Hawaii in May 2012. Where he served as IPAC Outbound Support Branch Separations SNCOIC, and Customer Support Branch SNCOIC.
 
In November 2014, Sergeant Major Martinezortiz Reported to 2d Battalion, 3d Marines, Marine Corps Base Hawaii where he served as the Battalion Administrative Chief.
 
In June 2016, Sergeant Major Martinesortiz reported to Headquarters Battalion, MCAGCC 29 Palms Ca and in April 2019 he served as IPAC SNCOIC and Alpha Company First Sergeant.
 
In April 2019, Sergeant Major Martinezortiz reported to 3d Battalion, 11th Marines, MCAGCC 29 Palms Ca where he served as the Kilo Battery First Sergeant and Headquarters Battery First Sergeant.
 
In June 2021, Sergeant Major Martinezortiz reported to Assault Amphibian School, Camp Pendleton Ca where he served as the Training and Instructor Company First Sergeant and Headquarters and Support Company First Sergeant.

In January 2023, Sergeant Martinezortiz received orders and reported in to MASS 3, Camp Pendleton Ca where he currently serves as the Squadron Sergeant Major.
 
Sergeant Major Martinezortiz' s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with 3 gold star in lieu of 4th Award, and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with 1 gold star in lieu of 2nd Award.
