Sergeant Major Bowman was born and raised in Belize City on December 12 1980 and moved to Brooklyn New York when he was 19 years old. He enlisted in October 2001 and underwent recruit training at 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, Hotel Company, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C.
In January 2002, Private Bowman completed Marine Combat Training at Camp Geiger, N.C. Private Bowman attended Bravo Company, Marine Corps Inventory Management Specialist Course 2002 March. He received orders to 3rd FSSG, Material Readiness Company, Camp Kinser Okinawa Japan, for duty as an Inventory Management Clerk. He served in a variety of billets; from Safety NCO, to Rifle Bearer, and the Company Machine Gun Team leader.
LCpl Bowman was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Corporal and transferred in April, 2004 to the Marine Corps Air Facility HMX-1 to serve as the Inventory Management Chief. Corporal Bowman attended the Marine Corps Martial Arts Instructor Course and achieved his Brown belt at the Martial Arts Center of Excellence School in June of 2004.
In April 2006, Corporal Bowman was assigned to Marine Tactical Air Command-18 and served as the assistant Inventory Management Chief for the squadron. Corporal Bowman also deployed to Korea. He was promoted to Sergeant in September 2006. Sergeant Bowman attended Sergeant's Course in November of 2006 and was nominated as the Class Gung Ho Marine.
In July of 2008, Sergeant Bowman was transferred to 2nd Battalion, 10 Marines, 2nd Marine Division. He was assigned to Headquarters Battery as the Inventory Chief and was transferred to 3rd Battalion 10 Marines and served as an Artillery Local Security Chief for headquarters Battery. Sergeant Bowman was later transferred to 5th battalion 10 Marines and deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from February 2009 to March 2010. He held numerous billets in addition to his primary MOS. He served as a machine gun instructor for 5th battalion 10 Marines Brigade Headquarters Group as part of the Base Defense Operation Center. He was hand selected to be the patrol leader for the Brigade Headquarters Group Commander Personal Security Detachment. He also conducted numerous missions in the air, ground, and encountered a close call when he shielded the Commander from a rocket attack.
In June 2010, Sergeant Bowman reported to the School of Infantry East, Combat Instructor School. Upon completion of Combat Instructor School, he was assigned to India Company as a Squad Instructor. Sergeant Bowman rose to the billet of Platoon Commander after just eight months with the company and was selected as the Honor Combat Instructor for class 22-11. He was then transferred to the Instructor Group where he taught and trained all Marines that came through SOI-East, ISMT on all the weapon systems. Sergeant Bowman was nominated for, and awarded the Combat Instructor of the Year board for the entire School of Infantry East and was the runner up for the entire Marine Corps in which he received a Navy Commendation Medal from the Commandant himself. He was competing for the School of Infantry East Meritorious Staff Sergeant board to which he successfully achieved. He was assigned back to India Company where he served as the Chief Combat Instructor. Sergeant Bowman was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant on the 2nd of January, 2013.
In March 2013, Staff Sergeant Bowman was transferred to Marine Air Ground Combat Center 29 Palms, Combat Logistic Company 13 as the Reparable Issue Point SNCOIC. He was later transferred to Combat Logistic Battalion-1 for a deployment to Afghanistan where he served as the SMU and Class-1 lot SNCOIC.
In May 2014, Staff Sergeant Bowman was transferred to Marine Corps Logistics Group where he served as the S-4 Logistics Chief. He held numerous billets at this command. He attended the Career Course and was the recipient of the class Gung-Ho award.
In December 2016, Staff Sergeant Bowman was transferred to 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Wing Communications Squadron 18 and was promoted to the rank Gunnery Sergeant and Served as the Inventory Management Chief. He was later selected to serve as the Company First Sergeant for Headquarters Company.
In March 2019, Gunnery Sergeant Bowman attended the force fitness instructor course and was the recipient of the class Gung Ho award. Upon completion of the course he serves as the Inventory Management Chief and the SNCOIC for the supply section.
In December 2019 Gunnery Sergeant Bowman was transferred to Combat Logistics Regiment 37 and was serving as the Regimental Force Fitness Instructor, Safety and Environmental Manager, SNCOIC for both CLR-37 Armory and Corona-virus 19 Outbreak Response Cell. (CORC) On Feb 12 2021 was (Frock) to the rank of First Sergeant and transferred to 7th Communication Battalion, 3D MIG. He served as Company First Sergeant for Service Company and was transfered over to Delta Company 3D Radio Battalion where he finished the remainder of his tour.
On May 15 2023 First Sergeant Bowman received orders to Marine Corps Installations Pacific where he is served as the First Sergeant for Bravo Company MCIPAC. On August 1st 2024 First Sergeant Bowman was promoted to the rank of SgtMaj and recieved order to Marine Air Support Squdron where he is currently serving as the MASS-3 Squadron SgtMaj.
