Sergeant Major Dillon was born in Columbus, Ohio on March 2, 1984. He attended Westerville South high school. Upon graduation from high school he attended Defiance College. After his freshman year in college he enlisted in the Marine Corps.
In November, 2003 Recruit Dillon arrived at Parris Island, SC. He was a member of 1st Recruit Training Battalion, platoon 1014. Upon completion of recruit training, PFC Dillon was sent to the School of Infantry at Camp Geiger, NC.
After completion of the School of Infantry and obtaining the MOS of 0311, PFC Dillon received orders to 2d Battalion 6th Marines. During the check in process PFC Dillon volunteered to be a combat replacement and in a few short months was attached to Bravo Company, 1st Battalion 8th Marines. During this period of time, PFC Dillon was deployed to Fallujah, Iraq and was later promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal.
Following the deployment, Lance Corporal Dillon returned to 2d Battalion 6th Marines and remained there completing four more deployments and filling the billets of Machine Gun Team Leader, Fire Team Leader, Squad Leader, and Platoon Sergeant. In 2011 following his fifth deployment he was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant and received orders to Kilo Company, 3d Battalion 25th Marines in North Versailles, PA.
Arriving at his new duty station Staff Sergeant Dillon filled the billets of Training Chief and Operations Chief. During his tour in Kilo Company, he completed three Annual Training Events and multiple bilateral training evolutions. In 2014 he received orders to Fox Company, 2d Battalion 8th Marines.
In 2014, Staff Sergeant Dillon checked into his new unit. During his tour there he deployed two times as part of the Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force - Crisis Response Africa (SPMAGTF-CRAF). While on his second deployment supporting operations in Africa, Staff Sergeant Dillon was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. Over his tour at 2nd Battalion 8th Marines he served in the billets of Platoon Sergeant, Company Gunnery Sergeant, and Company First Sergeant. In 2017, Gunnery Sergeant Dillon received orders to the Staff Noncommissioned Officers Academy (SNCOA), Camp Lejeune.
After departing 2nd Battalion 8th Marines, Gunnery Sergeant Dillon arrived at the SNCOA and assumed duties as a Faculty Advisor at Career School. After several courses he was moved to the Advanced School to facilitate instruction with his peer group. After a year, Gunnery Sergeant Dillon moved to the SNCOIC of Sergeant School for 12 months prior to being selected to the rank of First Sergeant.
In February, 2020, Gunnery Sergeant Dillon was promoted to First Sergeant and received orders to Dover, New Jersey as the Inspector Instructor First Sergeant for Golf Company, 2d Battalion 25th Marines. First Sergeant Dillon served in this billet until May of 2023 when he received orders to 3d Low Altitude Air Defense (LAAD) Battalion.
In May, 2023 First Sergeant Dillon checked into Camp Pendleton where he served as the Battery First Sergeant for Alpha Battery, 3d LAAD. During his tour he completed one deployment as part of the Unit Deployment Program 24.1 to Okinawa, Japan. Upon the units return from deployment First Sergeant Dillon was promoted to the rank of Sergeant Major.
In June, 2024 Sergeant Major Dillon checked into HMLA-267 where he currently serves as the Squadron Sergeant Major.
His personal awards include the Bronze Star w/ combat distinguishing device, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy / Marine Corps Commendation Medal w/ (2) gold stars, Navy / Marine Corps Achievement Medal w/ gold star, and the Combat Action Ribbon w/ gold star.
