Master Chief Bennett enlisted in the United States Navy in 1999. He completed Recruit Training at Great Lakes, Illinois, subsequently completed Hospital Corps “A’ School and Field Medical Service “C” School in 2000.
Master Chief Bennett has spent most of his career with the U.S. Marine Corps. His first duty station was 1st Marine Division. Assigned to 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines, he was forward deployed to Okinawa with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit and deployed again in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF 1), seeing combat with 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines in 2003.
He served as instructor and curriculum developer at Field Medical Training Battalion, Camp Pendleton, California directly shaping Marine Corps combat medical doctrine through the development of the Combat Lifesaver Course. Returning to the 1st Marine Division, he deployed again to Iraq—this time with 1st Battalion, 4th Marines—supporting counter-insurgency combat operations at Al Qa'im in Al Anbar Province during OIF 06-08 with RCT-2 and was advanced to Chief Petty Officer in 2007 while deployed. Subsequent assignments included Leading Chief Petty Officer for Battalion Landing Team, 1st Battalion 1st Marines with the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit during WESTPAC 2009 aboard the USS New Orleans (LPD-18); and Senior Enlisted Leader at Camp Pendleton’s largest Dental Clinic where he was selected for Senior Chief. He later served as Senior Medical Department Representative for the 1st Marine Regiment at Camp Horno, and Senior Enlisted Leader for the Division Surgeon’s Office at Camp Pendleton, California.
Master Chief’s shore assignments include Branch Clinics at Recruit Training Command and Naval Station Great Lakes as the Senior Enlisted Leader where he was selected to Master Chief in 2018. In 2019 he was assigned to Naval Aerospace Medical Institute in Pensacola, Florida, where is served as the Senior Enlisted Leader for the United States Navy’s internationally recognized Center of Excellence for all Aerospace Medicine and the sole source for Aeromedical training across the Navy and Marine Corps.
In 2022 he served as Command Master Chief for 1st Medical Battalion, leading more than 800 Sailors in health service support operations across the globe with the 1st Marine Logistics Group. In 2023, he was assigned as the Senior Enlisted Medical Advisor for I Marine Expeditionary Force, advising the MEF Commander and Surgeon on the medical readiness, training, and employment of more than 2,200 medical professionals serving across all combatant commands and in partnership with joint and international partner forces across INDOPACOM. In 2026 he was selected for Command Master Chief and assigned to the 3d Marine Aircraft Wing.
Master Chief Bennett is designated as a specialist in Fleet Marine Force warfare and holds a certification as a Master Training Specialist. He is a graduate of the Navy War College's Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 177), and the Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Capstone Course (Class 26020) in Newport, Rhode Island. His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), the Army Achievement Medal, the Combat Action Ribbon, as well as numerous unit, campaign, and service awards.
