Sergeant Major Fernando Fuentes was born on 1 November 1986 in San Jose, California, and enlisted in the Marine Corps on 21 January 2006. He attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, California. After graduating from Recruit Training, he attended Marine Combat Training (MCT) at Camp Pendleton, California. Following the completion of MCT, he attended MOS school at Camp Johnson, North Carolina, to become a Supply administration clerk (3043).
In August 2006, Sergeant Major Fuentes received orders to 7th Engineer Support Battalion in Camp Pendleton, California, where he served as the properties Non-Commissioned Officer. In October 2006, he was promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal and, in June 2008, attended Corporals Course in Camp Pendleton, California.
In January 2010, he received orders to 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit Camp Pendleton, California, where he served as the Supply Administration chief. He received orders to deploy in March 2010 on the West-Pac 10-1, where he assisted in the Pakistan flood's humanitarian aid efforts. Sergeant Major Fuentes also attended Sergeants Course in January 2011.
In March 2012, he received orders to Inspector-Instructor Staff, Dover, New Jersey, where he served in multiple billets such as Supply Chief, Logistics NCO, Motor Transport NCO, Communications NCO, and Color Sergeant. Sergeant Major Fuentes attended the Enlisted Supply intermediate Course in October 2012.
In July 2015, Sergeant Major Fuentes Received orders to Drill instructor School Class 4-15. In November 2016, Sergeant Major Fuentes attached to Recruit Training Regiment, 2nd Battalion, Hotel Company, where he served as a Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor, and Chief Drill Instructor. He also attended Career Course Seminar and graduated as an Honor graduate.
In January 2019, he received Orders to Combat Logistics Regiment 37, where he served as the Supply Chief. Sergeant Major Fuentes attended the Supply Chiefs course in October 2019. In May 2020, he received orders to 1st Supply Battalion, where he currently served as the Supply Chief. He Deployed with the SPMAGTF 21.2. from March 2020 to November 2021, he served as the Supply Chief and Detachment Gunnery Sergeant.
In March 2022, he received orders to Recruit Training Regiment, 1st Battalion, Delta Company, where he served as a Company First Sergeant.
In March 2024, he received orders to 3D LAAD, MACG-38, 3D MAW, where he served as a Battery First Sergeant. He Deployed on a UDP to Okinawa, Japan from November 2024 to May 2025.
In June 2025, Sergeant Major Fuentes received orders to Marine Wing Support Squadron 373 where he currently serves as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader.
Sergeant Major Fuentes' personal decorations include the Navy Commendation Medal with three gold stars in lieu of fourth award, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with two Gold Stars in lieu of third award, and Humanitarian Service Medal.
