Sergeant Major Gary Moll

Sergeant Major Moll enlisted in the Marine Corps in September 2005 and conducted Recruit Training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, SC. Upon completion, he attended Infantry Training Battalion, School of Infantry-East where he earned the military occupational specialty of 0311, Rifleman, and reported to 2d Battalion, 2d Marines in April of 2006.

Private First Class Moll was assigned to the Scout Sniper Platoon, 2d Battalion, 2d Marines, and promoted to Lance Corporal in June 2006. He attended Scout Sniper Course 01-06 in Quantico, VA in 2006 where he earned the 0317, Scout Sniper MOS. Lance Corporal Moll deployed on the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit in support of the Global War on Terrorism from January to July 2007. He was promoted to Corporal in August 2007 and deployed to Iraq in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM from April to November 2008. During this deployment, Corporal Moll was meritoriously promoted to Sergeant. Sergeant Moll attended the Joint Fires Observer Course in September 2009, and deployed to Garmshir District, Afghanistan in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM from October 2009 to May 2010.

In October 2011, Sergeant Moll attended Basic Recruiters Course. He earned the 8411 MOS and was assigned to Recruiting Station Harrisburg, PA. Sergeant Moll served as a canvassing recruiter for 16 months and as the Officer Selection Assistant in Officer Selection Station Reading, PA for 20 months. He was promoted to Staff Sergeant in October 2014.

In February 2015, Staff Sergeant Moll was assigned to the Tactical Training Exercise Control Group in Twentynine Palms, CA. He served as the lead Sniper and Reconnaissance Trainer and earned multiple qualifications to train and assess Marines from every infantry MOS. Staff Sergeant Moll served as a "Coyote" unit January 2018.

From January to June 2018, Staff Sergeant Moll served as Platoon Sergeant for the Scout Sniper Platoon, 3rd Battalion, 4th Marines. In June 2018, Staff Sergeant Moll was moved to Company Gunnery Sergeant, Company I, 3rd Battalion, 4th Marines. In September 2018, he was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant. From September 2018 through March 2019, Gunnery Sergeant Moll deployed on Special Purpose MAGTF-Crisis Response-Central Command where his company was assigned as the Crisis Response Company. During the deployment, the Crisis Response Company was deployed to support Operation INHERENT RESOLVE in Syria.

In July 2019, Gunnery Sergeant Moll reported to Weapons Training Battalion, Camp Lejeune, NC and was assigned as the Company First Sergeant of Range Company. In February 2022, he was promoted to First Sergeant.
      From March 2022 to March 2023, First Sergeant Moll served as Unit Senior Enlisted Leader of Transportation Company B, 2d Transportation Battalion. From April to May 2023, First Sergeant Moll served as Unit Senior Enlisted Leader of Communications Company, 2d Transportation Battalion. From May 2023 to October 2023, First Sergeant Moll served as acting Command Senior Enlisted Leader of the deactivating 2d Transportation Battalion.

From October 2023 through July 2024, First Sergeant Moll served as acting Command Senior Enlisted Leader of the newly activated Headquarters and Service Battalion, 2d Marine Logistics Group. From July 2024 to June 2025, First Sergeant Moll served as Unit Senior Enlisted Leader, Headquarters Company, H&S Bn, 2d MLG. In June 2025, he was promoted to Sergeant Major. 

In July 2025, Sergeant Major Moll reported to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 362 as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader, his current billet.

Sergeant Major Moll has a Bachelor's Degree in History from The Pennsylvania State University and his personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (fourth award) with Valor Device, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
