Sergeant Major Luigi B. Morillas

Luigi Morillas Was born and raised in Colombia, South America until the age of 13. He migrated to the United States, Queens, New York and later enlisted in the United States Marine Corps at the age of 17. He graduated from recruit training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) Parris Island, South Carolina in November 2002. He attended Marine Combat Training at Camp Geiger, North Carolina.

Upon completion of Marine Combat Training, Private First Class Morillas reported to Fort Leonard Wood, MO for Motor Transport Operator Military Occupational Skill (3531, 3533). Upon completion of MOS school, he reported for duty to Combat Assault Battalion, Camp Schwab, Okinawa Japan in March of 2003, there he served as Motor Vehicle Operator.

In March 2004, Lance Corporal Morillas received orders to Headquarters Battalion, Headquarters Marine Corps, Henderson Hall, VA. There he served as a Dispatcher in support of the Commandant, Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps and the National Capital Region. He was promoted to Corporal in October 2004 and later to Sergeant in October 2005.

In July 2006, Sergeant Morillas reported to Recruiters School at MCRD, San Diego. Upon completion of school, he reported for duty as a canvassing recruiter to Recruiting Station New York, Recruiting Sub Station Ridgewood.

In September 2009, Sergeant Morillas reported for duty to I Marine Headquarters Group, Camp Pendleton, CA, there he served as Platoon Sergeant and deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom II from March 2010 to March 2011. He was promoted to Staff Sergeant in October 2010. There he served as the Motor Transport Operations Chief, and Watch Commander for the detention facility aboard Camp Leatherneck and promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant.

In June 2013, he received orders to Combat Logistics Battalion 1, Camp Pendleton, CA. There he served as Platoon Sergeant and Truck Master. During this time, he was Temporary Assigned to EOTG in Support of 15th MEU CERTEX, and SPMAGTF.

In August 2015, he reported for duty to 3D Battalion, 12th Marines, Camp Hansen, Okinawa Japan. There he served as the Battalion Motor Transport Chief, a Master Sergeant Billet. He was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant in Aug 2016 and transferred to 12th Marines Regiment, Camp Hansen, Okinawa Japan to serve as the Headquarters Battery, Motor Transport Operations Chief.

In August 2018, he reported for duty to Combat Logistics Regiment 17, Camp Pendleton, CA. There he served as the Headquarters Company Gunnery Sergeant, Current Operations Chief, Acting First Sergeant and Acting Company Commander while the billet was gapped for 60 days. He was frocked to the rank of First Sergeant in January 2020 and deployed to Al Hamra, United Arab Emirates in support of Native Fury-20 where he served as the Camp Chief and Senior Enlisted Advisor.

In May 2020, he reported for Duty to School of Infantry West, Infantry Battalion, where he served as the ITB, Delta Company First Sergeant. In January 2021, First Sergeant Morillas reported for duty to Headquarters and Support Battalion, where he served as the Alpha Company First Sergeant.

Sergeant Major Morillas was promoted to Sergeant Major in August 2025 and reported for duty as the Senior Enlisted Leader, VMM-364, Camp Pendleton, CA.

Sergeant Major Morillas holds a Masters degree in Home land Security and a Masters Certificate in Supply Chain Management from the Trident University. Sergeant Major Morillas has two sons. Sergeant Major Morillas' personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal with 1 gold Star in lieu of second award, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation medal with 2 gold star in lieu of third award, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement medal with 2 gold stars in lieu of third award.
