Lieutenant Colonel Jeffrey "Wiki" Davis

Lieutenant Colonel Jeffrey C. Davis was born in Cherry Point, NC and graduated from the United States Naval Academy in May 2006 as a 2nd Lt in the U.S. Marine Corps. Upon graduation with distinction from The Basic School in 2007, he attended flight training. Completing flight school as a distinguished graduate in 2009, he reported to Marine Attack Training Squadron (VMAT) 203 at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point, NC to begin training as an AV-8B pilot.    

From May 2010 to April 2013, LtCol Davis was assigned to Marine Attack Squadron (VMA) 311 at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Yuma, AZ where he earned designations as a Section Lead, Weapons Training Officer, Division Lead, and Landing Signals Officer (LSO). Ground assignments included Schedules Officer, Aviation Safety Officer, and Director of Safety and Standardization. LtCol Davis deployed aboard the USS Peleliu (LHA-5) with the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) in support of 5th Fleet contingency operations.

LtCol Davis returned to Yuma, AZ and was assigned to VMA-214 from June 2014 to July 2016 where he earned designations as a Mission Commander, Air Defense Flight Lead, Low Altitude Tactics Instructor, Air Combat Tactics Instructor, Advanced LSO, Post Maintenance Check Flight pilot, and a Flight Leadership and Standardization Evaluator.  Ground assignments included Quality Assurance Officer, Pilot Training Officer, and Assistant Operations Officer. During this time, LtCol Davis completed Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course 1-15. LtCol Davis deployed with the 13th MEU aboard the USS Boxer (LHD-3) in support of 5th Fleet contingency operations and Operation Inherent Resolve.  Following the deployment, he reported to Marine Fighter Attack Training Squadron (VMFAT) 501 for training as an F-35B Transition Pilot with follow-on orders to Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 121 at MCAS Iwakuni, Japan.

From August 2017 to June 2020, LtCol Davis’ roles included the VMFA-121 Squadron Training LSO, Aircraft Maintenance Officer, MEU Detachment Officer-in-Charge, and Executive Officer.   While a member of the Green Knights, he completed four shipboard deployments in support of the 31st MEU and supported multiple theater exercises. During this tour, LtCol Davis earned designations as an F-35 Instructor Pilot, Training LSO, and F-35B Level III Demonstration Pilot.

In 2020, LtCol Davis attended Marine Corps University’s School of Advanced Warfighting with follow on orders as an operational planner at Marine Corps Combat Development Command (MCCDC) from July 2021 to July 2023. At MCCDC he led service-level integrated planning teams to inform innovation and to implement the service’s Force Design 2030 vision. Selected for command in 2022, LtCol Davis completed F-35B refresh training and F-35C conversion training with follow on orders to MAG-11 and VMFA-314.

LtCol Davis has attended multiple levels of Professional Military Education.  In 2014, he graduated from Marine Corps University’s Expeditionary Warfare School as the honor graduate and recipient of both the Lieutenant Colonel Robert J. Johnson Memorial Student and Lieutenant General Roy Geiger Award for Leadership. Forward stationed in Japan, he completed Command and Staff College (Distance Education Program) in 2018 as a distinguished graduate.  In 2021, LtCol Davis completed the School of Advanced Warfighting as the honor graduate, receiving a Master’s in Operational Studies and earning the General Clifton B. Cates Award.  In 2023, LtCol Davis completed Air War College (Distance Education Program) and MIT’s Seminar XXI.  He is also an active participant in the Jewish Institute for National Security of America (JINSA).  

LtCol Davis personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with Gold Star and the Navy Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Gold Star. His hobbies include hunting, skiing, and fishing with his family between their multiple sports and music events.
