Lieutenant Colonel Justin K. Sing

Lieutenant Colonel Justin Sing grew up in Apple Valley, MN.  He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in the summer of 1999 as an infantryman and was designated as an 0351 Anti-Tank Assaultman.

Lance Corporal Sing reported to 2nd Battalion 7th Marines, 29 Palms, CA in October of 1999.  He deployed to Southeast Asia three times with Echo 2/7 and was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Sergeant.  In the spring of 2003 Sergeant Sing was selected for the Marine Enlisted Commissioning Education Program and detached from 2/7 to attend the University of Minnesota.  He graduated with a Bachelor of Science and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in December of 2005. 

Upon completion of The Basic School and Naval Flight Training 1stLt Sing reported to VMM-266, New River, NC in the fall of 2009.  While with the Fighting Griffins, he deployed twice as part of the 26 Marine Expeditionary Unit in support of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM 11.1 in Afghanistan, and ODYSSEY DAWN in Libya. 

In June of 2014 Captain Sing reported to MAWTS-1, Yuma, AZ where he assumed the responsibilities of an MV-22B Instructor Pilot and worked in the Advanced Development of Tactics and Equipment division as the USMC Assault Support and Digital Interoperability Specialist. 

In May 2018 Major Sing reported to the Norwegian Defense University College Command and Staff program in Oslo, Norway.  He graduated with a Master of International Military Studies and was assigned to the Norwegian Army Headquarters Staff in Bardufoss, Norway.  While there, he worked as the Norwegian Army Air Liaison Officer in the G 3-5 Joint Fires and Effects Coordination Cell.

Major Sing was assigned to VMM-163, Miramar, CA in July 2020.  While with the Evil Eyes he held the billets of Aircraft Maintenance Officer and Operations Officer and deployed to the Horn of Africa as part of the Aviation Combat Element Crisis Response – Africa 22.2 where the unit supported Operations ENDURING SENTINEL, YUKON HUNTER, OCTAVE QUARTZ, and OCTAVE SHIELD. 

Lieutenant Colonel Sing assumed command of VMM-362 in July 2023. Lieutenant Colonel Sing and his wife have two sons.
