Major Diogenes D. Rosa-Garcia was born in Santiago, Dominican Republic and was raised in the Bronx, N.Y. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 2003 and attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island. As enlisted; he served in several key billets as a 6154 H-1 helicopter mechanic and graduated Magna Cum Laude with Bachelor of Science in Professional Aeronautics at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. In March of 2012, Major Rosa-Garcia commissioned as a Second Lieutenant through the Enlisted Commissioning Program and earned the 7210 MOS, Air Defense Control Officer following completion of Officer Candidate Course and Basic Officer Course.
Major Rosa-Garcia’s operational and supporting establishment assignments include H-1 Airframes Mechanic/Quality Assurance Representative, Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron (HMLA) 267; Instructor, CNATT Marine Detachment Camp Pendleton; Staff Non-Commissioned Officer-in-Charge of Airframes Section, HMLA-469. Air Defense Officer/Platoon Commander, Marine Air Control Squadron (MACS) 4; Company Commander, Tactical Air Operations Center, MACS-2; Assistant Officer-in-Charge of I Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF) Operations Center, I MEF Command Element; Assistant Operations Officer, Marine Air Control Group 38 (MACG-38); Company Commander, Tactical Air Command Center, MACG-38. He has deployed in support of Operations IRAQI FREEDOM and ENDURING FREEDOM.
Major Rosa-Garcia is a Weapons and Tactics Instructor, an Integrated Air Missile Defense Warfare Tactics Instructor, and a Master Training Specialist. He has completed numerous joint/service level schools and is a graduate of Air Defense Artillery Captain’s Career Course and AEGIS BL9C Tactical Action Officer Course.
Major Rosa-Garcia’s personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (gold star in lieu of fourth award), and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (gold star in lieu of third award).
