Major Michael Jacobellis

Major Michael R. Jacobellis was raised in La Verne, CA.  After graduating from the University of California Davis with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication, he attended Officer Candidate School in the fall of 2009 and was commissioned a second lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps.

Following completion of The Basic School in July 2010, Second Lieutenant Jacobellis reported for duty to 3d Low Altitude Air Defense Battalion (3d LAAD Bn).  In September 2010, he attended the LAAD Officers Course in Fort Bliss, Texas.  Upon his return to the Bn he served as the Bn Training Officer, a Platoon Commander, and the LAAD Detachment Officer in Charge for his deployment with the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit.

Upon completion of his deployment, Captain Jacobellis received orders to Marine Tactical Air Command Squadron 18, where he served as the Squadron's Assistant Security Manager and Air Defense Officer. 

In January 2015, Captain Jacobellis returned to 3d LAAD Bn where he assumed command of Battery B.  During this time, he graduated from the Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course, and in September 2016, he led the Battery on a deployment in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.

From 2017-2020, Captain Jacobellis served as the Ground Based Air Defense Division Head at Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron One (MAWTS-1).  Following this assignment, Major Jacobellis reported to Army Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, KS, and obtained a Master's degree in Operational Studies. 

In the summer of 2021, Major Jacobellis reported for duty at Marine Corps Forces Korea, where he served as the Aviation Command and Control Officer in the G-3.  In 2022, he once again returned to 3d LAAD Bn, where he is currently serving as the Battalion's Executive Officer.

Major Jacobellis' personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (with gold star in lieu of 2nd award), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (with gold star in lieu of 2nd award), and the 2017 Marine Corps Aviation Association's Robert F. Gibson Award earning the title of Marine Aviation Command and Control Officer of the Year in 2017. 

Major Jacobellis holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications, a Master of Science degree in Administration, and a Master's degree in Operational Studies.  He is married to Amanda Jacobellis and has a seven-year-old son Rocco and a four-year-old son Luke.
