Lieutenant Colonel Christopher Forsythe

LtCol Christopher Forsythe commissioned as a Second Lieutenant through the Platoon Leader Course Combined program in June 2002.  Upon graduation from The Basic School, LtCol Forsythe attended Naval Aviation Flight training in Pensacola Florida where he was reassigned as an Air Support Control Officer in 2004.  Following his graduation from Air Support Control Officer’s Course LtCol Forsythe reported to Marine Air Support Squadron Three (MASS-3), Camp Pendleton, California.

Soon after his arrival at MASS-3, in 2005 LtCol Forsythe deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom as the Air Support Liaison Team (ASLT) Officer in Charge (OIC) with Regimental Combat Team Two (RCT-2).  In 2006 he deployed for a second time in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom as a Senior Air Director in the I MEF Direct Air Support Center (DASC).  Upon his re-deployment LtCol Forsythe was designated a Senior Air Director and Weapons and Tactics Instructor (WTI) by Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron One (MAWTS-1).  During his time at MASS-3 LtCol Forsythe served as a Platoon Commander, Air Support Company Commander, and Assistant Operations Officer. 

Following his tour at MASS-3 LtCol Forsythe reported to MAWTS-1 where he served as an Academics Officer and DASC Division head from 2007-2010.

 In 2010 LtCol Forsythe reported to Marine Tactical Air Command Squadron Twenty Eight (MTACS-28) where he served as the Tactical Air Command Center (TACC) OIC in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF).  Following his OEF deployment LtCol Forsythe served as the Operations Officer and Executive Officer of MTACS-28 from 2013-2014.

From 2014-2017 LtCol Forsythe served as a Faculty Advisor, Course Director, and Director of Curriculum Development at Expeditionary Warfare School.  Following his tour at EWS LtCol Forsythe attended the Marine Corps Command and Staff College.  Upon graduation in 2018 LtCol Forsythe assumed duties as the Executive Officer of Second Low Altitude Air Defense Battalion.  From June of 2019 to June 2020 LtCol Forsythe served in his current position as Marine Air Control Group 28 Operations Officer.

LtCol Forsythe is a graduate of Air Support Control Officer’s Course, EWS (non-resident), Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course, National Outdoor Leadership School, and the Marine Corps Command and Staff College.  He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Master’s in Military Studies.

His personal decorations include Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (gold star), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and the MCAA C2 Officer of the Year.
