Brigadier General Robert B. Brodie assumed command of 3d Marine Aircraft Wing on 27 February 2026. As the a native of Bucks County, Pennsylvania, he graduated from The Citadel and was commissioned via Platoon Leader Class in August 1994.
Brigadier General Brodie’s command assignments include Company Commander of H&HS Co WFTB, Commanding Officer of Marine Fighter Attack Training Squadron 101, Commanding Officer, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, and Commanding General, 3d Marine Expeditionary Brigade.
Brigadier General Brodie is a qualified F/A 18 Hornet and F-35 Lighting II pilot. His operating forces assignments include three tours in Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 312 as part of Carrier Air Wing One and Three and a tour in Marine All Weather Fighter Attack Squadron 533. He served as the Air Officer for Regimental Combat Team 2, the Operations Officer for 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, the Director of Combat Plans 601st AOC, the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, the G-3 for III MEF, and the Assistant Wing Commander for 3D Marine Aircraft Wing.
He has participated in Operations SOUTHERN WATCH, IRAQI FREEDOM I, ENDURING FREEDOM, IRAQI FREEDOM II, NEW DAWN, and INHERENT RESOLVE.
Brigadier General Brodie’s additional assignment include the Executive Assistant to the Deputy Commandant for Aviation and Director, Expeditionary Warfare, OPNAV.
Brigadier General Brodie is a graduate of The Basic School, Naval Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN), Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course, Aviation Maintenance Officer Course, and a distinguished graduate of the US Army War College. He holds a BA in International and Military Affairs from The Citadel and Masters in Strategic Studies from the US Army War College.
Brigadier General Brodie’s personal decoration include the Legion of Merit with gold star, Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with Gold Star, Air Medal Strike- Flight with Numeral 3, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with Gold Star.
